Caught a few games when I visited family this year.
"Stecher was a great part of the Gudbranson trade"
I actually turned around and looked at the guy. he was really trying to impress these girls, who wanted nothing to do with him, with his hockey knowledge - Lindenis#1

I don't want to finish that high - Nucker101
Me either, but if the PP can break top 20 and the PK doesn't go at 50% for stretches it isn't out of the question. |

TL said the fans are knowledgeable in Van. Best joke he has said since he took the job. - manvanfan
Whenever I go to the games, it serves as a great reminder of how dumb the casual fans are. This one guy seemed reasonable at first and then started telling me about how amazing every Canuck prospect is..
"Horvat will be the next Toews"
"Boeser will be a 30 goal scorer"
"Demko could be better than Schneider and Luongo"
"Virtanen will be like Lucic"
"Hutton is going to be like Tyson Barrie"
Surprisingly, he even named some lesser known prospects and hyped them up too. I just nodded and agreed with a smile on my face. |

If the PK and PP can reach levels of non-embarassment a 6th last finish isn't out of the question
As for any real jump up the standings, its hard to see who they can leapfrog without a big influx of talent.
Ideally a Dman who can score a few points. Whether Hutton or Stecher is that, Subban works magic as a Marc Andre Bergeron type 6th dman is yet to be seen. - Lindenis#1

Let's just pray that they both continue to be terrible. Hopefully teams will stop leaving Boeser open, because he can actually score unlike 90% of the roster. |

The first two aren't nuclear bad. If Hutton can be Jake Gardiner I would be really happy.
If Virtanen can make any kind of NHL career where he contributes I would be thrilled.
I'm less worried about Demko. If you're on top of the goalie market you can find useful options. Talbot's a good example. Darling might be that guy this year. There is usually 2, maybe 3 guys an off season that fall into that. |

He even mentioned how Jordan Subban will be great for us and Cole Cassels can shutdown McDavid. And he was dead serious and confident. I didn't want to hit him with a dose of reality because he seemed like a nice guy.

PK is a lot more coach influenced too. PP is more personnel, but having someone willing to try something new and mix it up compared to Willie could really help it.
But if the team could get like a combined 90 percent in terms of percentage they'd go a long way to improving the club next year. |

I think Subban has to get a chance. He would have to be levels of unreal bad defensively to avoid having an offensive kick in the pants on D. Good deployment could have him in a Justin Schultz-esque role.
That last quote is a Jimbo line from one of those town halls they used to have. |

I prefer to make realistic assumptions? If you can call it that. I did make 3 bets before the season started. Won 2 lost 1.
Jimmy Vesey over/under 28 points. The guy wanted to give me 39. I took the under of course. He got 26.
Van would be drafting top 8 this year. Won that.
With an oilers fan, I bet Van would be without 10 points of them in the standings. Sad to say I lost that.
If anything Stecher is Van's version of Tyson Barrie |

I wanted to bet the under on the Canucks point total but I got to the line too late and the one I looked at had it at like 74 when it started at like 79. Didn't think they'd be 69 points bad. Figured another 77 was in the works

I think they just wanna see him get a real chance. There's really no reason he shouldn't have gotten a look at some point this year.
If you're not making the playoffs there really isn't any reason he can't have a 10-12 game look at least. Even if its a showcase and you move him for a 5th. He could be an asset worth something.
Plus, both top centers and most of the Canucks F are LH so having him as a RH option up top just makes too much sense. Worth the experiment. |

I had a hope dream fantasy that things would go right and players wouldn't be injuried at 91. Realistically I lying to myself and knew 71-75. |
