Think their N.A rankings are relatively safe, but those Euro rankings are all over the (frank)ing map. - Whiskey-Tango
Exactly what I was thinking also, it's a (frank)ing joke they still seperare NA and Euro |

And the other coaches werent Benning guys either? My point is that if you have a coach you respect and trust, you let him hire his own staff. Keeping an assistant on and telling your new coach to make him part of your staff isnt something you do with an experienced guy IMO - WhiteLie
I agree with this but you previously said it's because the new guy is a stop gap and I think that's bs. They aren't hiring a guy and planning on firing him in 2 years. This will be the last coach they hire while they are running the team |

So....something to discuss....a source inside the team and very close to the players said that Tryamkin is definitely gone after next season. He has no friends on the team and the players all think he is a soft b!tch. The comment immediately made me angry as the entire team is soft so how can they call the kid out. |

I felt as though he was the only one who stood up for all his team mates when they needed it all year apart from what Hutton and Bo did in the last few games, and what Miller did when Stecher was into it with Martin... |

So Liljegren is not even top rated defenseman in Europe, yet some here want him with our top 5 pick????
Klim Kostin at the top of Euro's rankings, anyone see him play at all. I have seen a little of all of top 15 or so except none of Kostin. |

Totally I agree. I was surprised by the comment. He isn't full beta or alpha |

By combining NA & European rankings you have 9 centers in their top 10. You know someone will go off the board. |

I don't think people put to much stock in the central scouting rankings anymore. They lose credibility when they can't even create their own consensus list. |

Pedan should be on Team next season, & the rest of this team can be sent packing other than Brock Bo and Tryamkin the rest are stop gap crap. |

I dont think that this next coach will intentionally be a stop gap, I just made that guess based on the trend in the NHL:
Savard got 2 years before they ditched him for Q in CHI
Carlyle got 148 games (essentially 2 years, plus then interim Horachek) before getting Babs,
Crawford had 2 years during a bad era in LA before getting replaced with Murray on the upswing
BOS from 05-07 was bottom of the division (went through 2 coaches) before hiring Julien and returning to the playoffs
Rick Tocchet in Tampa was 2 years of bottom feeder before Guy Boucher got them into ECF
Its very possible this is the last coach of this regime, but as we have all speculated, Benning probably wont reap the benefits of his own work. His drafted players will come later on and someone else will look good for it. Likewise, I dont think very many coaches come out of the bottom part of a rebuild, teams like to start with a clean slate/fresh voice to be competitive |

C. Foote is growing on me. Too bad we don't have 2 1sts. I doubt he drops to a very late 1st? Then there's a possibility of moving up. - storm88
Tanev and Edler should get us the first we need to take Foote. |

Edler being gone and Foote added would be sweet. I would be happy with Valimaki or Hague as well.

Interesting haven't heard that at all. Give it some time maybe the new coach will bring a few more things out of him. As it sits right now Only Bo, BB, Tree, Stech and Demko should be untouchable...possibly Juolevi. |

Kostin was out after shoulder surgery. Just talked to a friend and he said that Nolan Patrick didn't play in the playoffs because of a knee problem. No surgery required or anything kept him out as more of a precaution. |

He's a young kid who has only been over here for one year. Barely speaks english. Work on that over the summer and he will be fine next year. He's got Goldy now. |

he has been said to be well liked by his team mates. Doubt JB would let him get away. |

Thanks for that I always appreciate your input.
I followed Tri City a lot this year and like Geekie Rasmussen and Valimaki, did you ever see them play live and if so what are your thoughts on those 3. |

I've seen the same thing post
Whenever I go to the games, it serves as a great reminder of how dumb the casual fans are. This one guy seemed reasonable at first and then started telling me about how amazing every Canuck prospect is..
"Horvat will be the next Toews"
"Boeser will be a 30 goal scorer"
"Demko could be better than Schneider and Luongo"
"Virtanen will be like Lucic"
"Hutton is going to be like Tyson Barrie"
Surprisingly, he even named some lesser known prospects and hyped them up too. I just nodded and agreed with a smile on my face. - Nucker101

It is strange because we know management really likes Tree. Hopefully he will be a bit more extroverted when he learns English and has a year of experience under his belt. |
