Not sure I believe it but hopefully he's right...

The fact that they traded vets and tanked the season at the TDL, show's they know what's up (this year).

You are writing off JV way too early. My guess is he will end up a middle 6 forward. Did anyone project him to be anymore than that? If anything, he was gifted a roster spot when he shouldnt have got one and maybe it all went to his head. He could still turn it around. Cant win em all.

I was an Ehlers fan but i saw the need for JV's skill set.
2nd line ceiling i figured but hoped a 1st liner.
Still see him as a 2nd liner but also at worst very good for us if a 3rd liner.
On Ehlers who knows how he will perform in a PO game.
I'll take JV anyday over him til proven wrong in the PO's.
I do see a better talented team that sux & cannot make the PO's....Jets

Freudian slip, corrected himself but it was funny to hear.

Glad that TL takes blame with management by not surrounding them with better players. They need to be lower in the lineup and he acknowledged they failed at that

Sure sounds like Benning is leaning towards a C at the draft.

It will be interesting to see what the next coach does with the same lineup. Maybe Benning should finally decide to keep a line-up designed to limp along or bite the bullet and rebuild like he should have started doing last year?

I don't care what coach walks into that room; they're going to get the same results.

Auction off the Sedin twins and load up on 2018 picks. I'd even move Eriksson for more picks and prospects.

Talk about sticking to your guns... Respek

Sedins said publicly they won't play anywhere in the world other than Vancouver, Eriksson will get better next year, though I'd imagine his contract is untradeable right now anyways.

yes.
But we need everything really, including a high end D that can make space for forwards.

Didn't know that about the Sedins. It's not about moving Eriksson because he's bad. I just think you guys need a clean slate and take a few years to build. 2018 is gonna be a really good draft year and if you and if you can load up, you should.

You also never know with players. The Sedins could say that now, but when they want that last run at a cup they may be ready to move on.

If it were actually me pickng JV would've gone back to Jr's.
I said at draft time i pick Ehlers. After the fact how JV was handled could've been different. I'm not concerned if JV is in Utica next season.

you would be hard pressed to find 3 teams, in the hunt for the playoffs, willing to take on 2 pro-rated 7 million dollars contracts at TDL.

Yeah with the twins we're handcuffed. Eriksson seems to me like the type of player you'd want to move at the trade deadline but 6mil is way too much for most contenders.

I mean look, if it means you get a 1st rounder in 2018 along with a 2nd and some prospects? You retain half. If you decide to go into a full re-build then you can keep some salaries on the books.

Never discount a team like the Rangers or Devils to bite.

I won't be either because that's where he belongs until he thinks the game at an NHL level.
