We're still two years behind Buffalo, we need more generationalness to close the gap, ya dink. - Steven_Seagull
When is it our turn to stink enough to get some generationalness? |

If my team had as bad a season as the Avalanche, I'd burn the whole thing and start from scratch. Might even change the uniforms and the team name

don't you worry, Snow is around the corner feeling the pressure and will do something dumb in an effort to keep JT happy |

Ekblad level young dman. There is no realistic combo of young players picks etc that makes it worth wild. Mackinnon is still a stud 1C in the making, his skill set doesnt translate to his goal total but there is no worries with his talent level.
You don't move Mack for a combo of older players or younger less proven prospects for him. Thats franchise suicide
Unless they get their Seth Jones trade. I don't want to even think about it |

Heard, just curious.
I thought a Ladenskog for Drouin might be a nice shakeup.
Still think the best partner to bolster the D lies in the Peg. |

I wouldn't want to move Landeskog right now. They are weak at the Wings, especially guys with 2 way ability. There was a lot to be excited about with the way he ended the season..past 25 games or so. Still the captain and its his locker room.
Duchene is the guy to go, love him for a long time but it makes the most sense. His position is redundant now with Jost and Compher in the fold...potenitally adding another C with a top pick.
Winnipeg wants Lefties, same as the Avs. don't see the fit there unless they get troubla just to move barrie to the left side or move barrie for a lefty. |

I really could see Carolina emerging as a major player for Duchene.
A) They're only a few key moves away from being a playoff team. Their record is really not indicative of how they played. They turned it up toward the end of the season, but goaltending and scoring is just a weakness they need to address.
B) They have the quality young dmen to offer up. Not sure who they'd be willing to part with; Hanifin, Murphy, Slavin. - Rinosaur
Agreed but they won't part with Hanifin and Slavin. Maybe Murphy, Pesce. Heck they can even afford to give up Faulk.
Need to sign one of those good UFA goalies though |

Varly is coming back, there is no escaping that. They will roll the dice with Varly in net unless they find a trade partner for him.
Dont see any UFA additions unless they move on from Pickard and look for a 1B to challenge Varly (like Darling) |

OEL bruh.
I'd trade Duchene ++ for that. Not sure the Yotes do it.
Ie top pick. Avs are closer than the Yotes. Even as bad as they are. |

I do think they are closer too, they have a lot of good pieces in place, all very young to.
I don't know who they trade Duchene for, but getting a good young dman for him, a good pick in the lottery and maybe a smart trade or 2 of other guys.
They could really turn things around quickly. I have a weird gut feeling they will take on a heavy contract with the cap space this year to gain other assets. Like Carolina did with Bickell to get TT
The one I keep on thinking of is taking on Nash from the Rangers so it opens up cap space for them to sign shattenkirk. |

Finally some Avs love! I still am in favour of keeping Dutchene. One more year. Keep him as a mentor for the young kids. I don't think believe Jost and Compher are ready for full time centre. Let them develop and show them

That would be MacKinnon and Landeskog who are the vets of the forward group going forward. They have a lot of older vets still in that fwd group, they won't be lacking yet
Duchene needs to go. Not that he isn't valuable or wouldnt be helpful but this is their chance to reboot. Keeping him for 1 year doesnt do much in the long run.
Compher is ready, being in the AHL does nothing for him now. The kid is ready and shown he has in his call up. Jost looks damn ready, he can't go to the AHL and would have to go to the WHL if he isn't on the Avs next year. Being on Regina next season wouldnt help him.
Training wheels will be off on Jost and Compher. Whoever the Avs draft this year will be 100% certain to be back developing instead. Which is a good thing. |
