good point, I'm a big fan of a coach adapting to his roster, not the other way around...then again, there are people who claim that he didn't have much to work with...I don't agree with that completely - Michael Pachla
I think the proof is in the pudding.
They often lost miserably when healthy.
We should have seen a change when players started to come back.
I feel like Eichel often peeled back on a forecheck for the sake of defense quite a bit.
At times, we would recover the puck and put it directly on the oppositions stick. I assume the Sabre with the puck was passing to an area he was told to pass to by the coach.
Getting out of our zone was almost always a tire fire.
Yet game in and game out, under qualified players would try stretch passes and they would get picked off.
We pretty much watched the same game 82 times this year.

Bylsma said he had a convo with management and expects to be back next year?

This BULLSH!T narrative that "Bylsma favors vets over kids" is wildly inaccurate and quite ridiculous
Franson & Gorges finished 5th & 6th in icetime among defensemen
MacCabe played more, and was usually on the top pair
Ristolainen was among the league leaders in icetime
Brian Gionta was 7th among forwards in icetime,
just behind Reinhart & Larsson!
Moulson was 12th among forwards in icetime, playing less than Rodrigues
Btw, Ennis also played less than Rodrigues
Bailey & Carrier's icetime was not up there,
But even they got extended looks in the top6
Criticizing Bylsma is one thing...

Yeah didn't understand why he wouldn't throw Nylander out with Eichel for a bit...just see what happens. It's not like we were desperate for a win or anything. What are people's thoughts on Reinhart? I know he's young...but I feel he may end up never quite living up to his 2nd overall status. Doesn't have a big shot, isn't at all physical, and lacks foot speed. Would he not be a perfect player to trade to one of those teams with an abundance of d-men (which can't all be protected from Vegas). Maybe he could fetch you a Fowler plus a pick? Something along those lines. His value should be quite high because of his draft position, and the fact he does not need to be protected in the expansion draft. I feel Nylander, as a natural winger...and one with some speed, would be a better fit to ride shotgun with Eichel. I really didn't like that pairing as the year went on, felt like Jack never had anyone to give the puck to cause Sam just couldn't keep up, and Foligno is not even close to the same level as Eichel offensively. For all the mixing and matching Bylsma does with the lines...he seems to miss the mark a lot |

I'm sure Nylander will eventually get his chance with Jack...
what would we have learned from 1 or 2 games anyways?
Not much imo
Nylander will most likely start with Rochester again next season

Probably
It's just not even close to accurate with us this season though
Everyone is all in love with the kids...
and I kinda get it, bc they haven't been part of the problem
But what did Bailey & Carrier do when in the top6?
They hardly scored at all

Nothing really, but Bailey/ROR/Kane was a decent line for a stretch.
Carrier is meh to me. He doesn't do anything that stands out. I think he's a fine 10-13 forward on a good team
Bailey is bigger, faster, but can't get around the net where he scores a lot for some reason.
Fasching can't score in Rochester yet, as a physically mature 21 year old, which is concerning.
None of them really deserve top 6 time at this point |

And I happen to really like Bailey...
but the "vets" like Gionta, Moulson & Foligno are actually scoring goals
These young kids will get their chances...
and when they start producing, they'll take the icetime they earn
