Yeah, I get that, but I doubt the coach would have 0 input. But it's gotta be Eichel. Murray said Eichel wanted a bigger leadership role, or something to that effect, and if he is picking the captain by himself it will likely be Eichel.

Why would you pay someone $3M, on purpose, to be your 4th line center, when you can pay Rodriguez probably a third of that?

Rodrigues is a fantastic 4C. Young, fast, doesn't have hands of stone, and is solid defensively. And most importantly, CHEAP!

Why would you pay someone $3M, on purpose, to be your 4th line center, when you can pay Rodriguez probably a third of that?

Because this is the NEW NHL you have to have four capable lines and Desharnais is a solid bottom six forward with good defensive possession numbers who can also fly. Rodriguez is a fringe NHL'er at this point. Simply not good enough for a playoff or bust team next year. Also with all our injuries he can easily slide into the top six.

Gerbe that defense is better than anything Buffalo has had since you were picking your nose in the 4th grade.

Larsson and Desharnais are better and Rodriguez is terrible offensively thus far. At this point he's a nice injury replacement or top line center in Rochester. Need to have much higher expectations next year.

Honestlyy how is that line up draft lottery worthy? We'd have an incredible and deep defense and Murray all but assured Nylander would be here next year. Sharp is a MUCH better upgrade as a 3rd line LW than stonehands Foligno. Could probably have a better top line LW to start the season with Eichel but I had to be realistic.

Plus we kiss the losers Badgosian, Gorges, Ennis, Moulson and Deslauries goodbye.
