Say what you will about Kassian but he has found a home in Edmonton. He's being played to his strengths.

Per Sekeres, Panthers are expected to ask Canucks for permission to speak with Travis Green Would be hilarious if he didn't even want the job

I hope they say hell no, he's busy coaching our farm in a playoff race....He needs to stay focused instead of left with other stuff to think about

Looks like Vegas to name Gallant as their coach, can cross him off your list if you had him on it.

Green will be given an opportunity in Van. They are looking for a coach who can work with younger players and from what I have seen or heard Green is respected.

I think getting sober was or is the biggest turnaround in his career and life, so good on him.

I don't think either would want to come to van right now
- Redmile247

I wouldn't want them to either. Not the right fit for this team and where it's at.

I knew AV had run his course with that group back then. But he was the last good coach Nucks have had. Bringing in the wrong coach, like they have done twice, will be just as bad as drafting a dud in the first round.

Worst trade JB made. Hated it at the time. They should have shut him down put him on IR and sent him to rehab. Then after a long program to Comets to get back into hockey. But they didn't want to deal with that.

Tallon is back in charge, he's anti-analytics but he's got a great eye for talent. He could probably use an assistant GM who's better with the cap and CBA than he is though.

Its true though isnt it?

They didn't give him a chance to succeed. They expected to much too early and when they realized he wasn't a 50 goal scorer, just decided to ditch him.

But much like he says. Play that guy in a role with a system that suits him, and hes still a very affective hockey player.

Its too bad.

Been reading along last couple days. Just mistified with the stances. It's a team that's failed to accomplish goals so it's open to criticism. But I don't understand this rebuild issue.

What was so damaging to the rebuild by the moves management has made the last 3 years? Yes they didn't declare a rebuild. Other then that the end result still has them on track. In the spirit of explaing why I will lay it out.

1)In retool year one their comptetative drive got them BB. Brock is a highly regarded prospect who looks ready to break into the NHL with the game he played recently. The lotto luck being what it is a 5th OJ. Also highly regarded to break in next season. They have converted vets into younger players or propects by trade. Now more draft picks in all rounds with another top 5. Only 4 players remain from the old "stale" core that they took over. Two are untradable. The other two you wouldn't want to move anyway. At least not until now. These decisions are pending as the new core gets formed to take over.

2)So what's with all the rehetoric? How would the Canucks be any further along today on the rebuild? What, having more lower end draft picks that would be questioned as not NHL worthy. From those past two years of draft picks the Canucks moved they have 4 NHL regulars. That's a good accomplishment. If needed, they could be moved or packaged as the team transitions.

3)Let's also add top end UFA's. Virbata cost some cap space and produced one year the other he barreled out not letting us recover an asset. Miller. Well he made one young goalie expendable for a 3rd rounder. Allowed another to groom his game. LE hasn't worked out for the retool. But now he's an asset for the rebuild. One that either mentors or gets moved for other needed assets. He just took up cap space. But not one that would have taken a bad contract back for a throw in asset. No sorry this isn't a cap floor team which can do that. Those suggesting that are unrealistic that the Nucks would turn into one. Even if it was theoretically possible it takes years to move so many big contracts as trades are hampered by the cap.

4)Oh and yeah some don't believe there is a rebuild. It's still a retool if you have the Swedes here. Thats just adding to the unreasonable expectations. But don't worry they will be gone soon. Rebuilds take time.

So, is mangement perfect? No they have made mistakes like Vey and Kassian that turned up zero assets. They have had failures too like no trade partner for Hammer. Have they ruined this team? No. They have their first rounders. They have gotten younger.

Did they fail to make it competitive? Yes. Did that hurt the rebuild? No. Not really. It's still happening as those take years to get draft picks NHL ready. Example a retool draft pick JV is developing while Tree is asserting himself as a regular on the roster.

The outrage is that the higher pick JV hasn't panned out yet. Well for a retool that hurts. But a rebuild it's par for the course.

Now my view may be rejected or the usual troll retorts follow. But it's up as a statement to think about from the what has been espoused so far.

I don't know about quickly but they've definitely turned. IMO it takes five to eight years to turn around a franchise. It completely depends on doing all the other things right besides drafting well.
