I'm glad Willie is gone as well! It was clearly evident he did not want any part of a rebuild, he wanted to win and compete, wrong man for the job at the wrong time.

Totally agree Hefty. I am excited to see what Green can bring to this team. I don't want any old and stubborn coaches. We need a coach that can grow with the prospects over the next 3-4 years. Jarvis can provide experience and guidance.

18. One name to watch this off-season: Carolina’s Noah Hanifin. He played at least 20 minutes in 10 of the Hurricanes’ last 11 games (and came in at 19:58 in the other). I think Carolina would consider moving him if — and only if — an impact offensive forward was coming to Raleigh. So, don’t come at them with weak sauce. They are one of the few teams that could even consider this, because they have blue-line depth. But, Hanifin has a long, prosperous career ahead of him, and they will not trade him just for the sake of it.

I was more so referring to our 1st round pick for him. I wouldn't.

I dont want any player from this draft to start on the big club next season. Hopefully they learned from the Mccann and JV disaster.

Keep in mind that Nolan and Nico are probably similar to Dubois and Puljarvi in terms of quality and would be walking in to a tire fire type situation next year. Zero reason for them to be on the team next season.

- mauryballstein

If they earn a spot let them play.

Oh yeah, its tough call but a lottery pick is too valuable to pass up. Colorado is the team that has the assets to do it. Duchene, Jost, Mackinnon, and possibly another C in this draft, so they could move one to bolster their D. Vancouver only has Horvat right now, cant move him without setting back a rebuild thats already behind schedule

Agreed.
The only possibility I see is perhaps Hischier playing the wing in a sheltered role on what-ever team drafts him but ya, I'd be very surprised if anyone from this draft class makes an immediate impact in the show this coming season....

I could easily see Duchene being the guy that gets moved for him. Would be a great deal for both teams.

Defense take longer to get going. If we did Bo for him and then draft a center I have no problem. Bo is good but not like he is mathews or mcdavid.

If we walk away with Patrick I could see him getting 4th line minutes like Bo did. Hes one of the older players in the draft and plays a solid defensive game.

Perhaps, but that would be a pretty dump move.

I know it is often (sometimes daily) said, but Carol, that was an excellent blog.

I still have to wonder how much Galardi's broken business relationship with Aquilli and how Aquilli screwed him out of ownership/partnership of the Canucks went into this decision. I thought the same about Hamhuis. Would Galardi hire Hitchcock to spite the Canucks where Hitch would have been a great fit.... that is, until Sutter became available yesterday.

Patrick can definitely play in the NHL this year and so can Nico. Nico has the skill and maturity to contribute right away. Patrick has the size and well rounded game to contribute as well although I question if he will be healthy enough.

Your 2nd plus a good prospect or if you got another first to throw in then maybe

Why? He was two weeks a way from being drafted last year. This will almost be his D+2 season coming up. He is physically mature.

Placing a 1st overall, hopeful franchise center on a 4th line devoid of absolutely any talent is not how you develop high end players.

Moreover, for all those concerned (you) about his injury history, placing him in a bang and crash, grinding role probably is not the best route after an injury filled season lol.

Not saying they cant, more that they shouldnt. Just saying I dont really see the point. Unless they blow your socks off. Nico could at least play the wing but with brock and unfortunately ericksson your top 2 spots are gone and dont see the point in the playing him in a 3rd line role... Maybe i am not giving him enough credit but when you compare his numbers(to previous guys drouin and ehlers) then look at his size, i wouldnt say he is a lock.
