If we draft Hischier he'll be starting. - LordHumungous
Why would we need to start Hischier? We have Megna for crying out loud!! |

Well he's in the business, talks to Kelly McCrimmon a lot. Who is an NHL asst GM. I don't know man. I'm just saying this is coming from a guy who knows more then us. - manvanfan
That's fair. but the decision is up to the NHL team that drafts the player who he obviously hasn't spoken with. Patrick isn't going to turn down a chance to make $ and play in the NHL. Perhaps he doesn't think he is ready (which would be an odd thing to say), or he is hopeful he will return to help his team. |

It is lateral in a sense. I just am huge on building from the back out. I want this team to have a true #1(demko hopefully) then a rock solid top 4 and then 3 really good centers. - mauryballstein
I like Bo because he has a nose for the net. His all-around defensive game needs improvement but that can be taught. Many of the skills Bo possesses can not be taught.
If I believe in my development system then that's the type of player I want on my roster during a rebuild.
I wouldn't give him up for another development project. |

If he earns a spot let him play. The Canucks should ALWAYS give roster spots to the most deserving candidates. That's what healthy competition is all about. If the prospect is severely undersized perhaps you consider holding him back a season. Patrick has the frame so if he earns it he should at a bare minimum get 9 games. - CanuckDon
I'm not saying he shouldn't make the team, I'm saying he shouldn't be put in a 4th line role, as simple as that.
Young guys are inserted on the 4th generally to earn their time and learn the fundamentals of the game (defense, positioning, systems). At 1st overall, one would hope the player already possesses those qualities.
He would need to be put in a position to succeed, which in Pats case, would be creating offense.....we (if lucky enough) aren't developing a Brendan Gaunce here, but a potential first line center. |

Posters did it a lot when I started reading this site back in 2010. People didn't get banned as much back then. More warnings than punishment. But like usual it was taken advantage of and the banhammer fell.
You don't see it very much. Sometimes in the Canadiens' thread. But sometimes a statement needs to be made. A line must be drawn. - bloatedmosquito
Well played.

I think he will to but it has more to do with FA getting involved again. My concerns would be that he turns in to a Gilbert Brule and not a Marner if this were to happen. I just have zero issues with letting guys develop in JR or AHL etc. - mauryballstein
Agree. However based on FA's last few comments on the team I'm hoping he leaves Benning and Linden alone for a year or two. |

Hanifan is 20 years old. TWENTY.
His development trajectory is eerily similar to that of Seth Jones, another ultra-young D-man that impatient & overcritical fans blew off after his first few seasons.
Look at him now, and he's still only TWENTY TWO.
(Again, not saying I would trade Horvat or a 1st for him). - Whiskey-Tango
But that's the outrageous part of the post. Just looking at the kid's stats now and I likey very much. But don't dangle those precious building blocks! |

Bo is easily my favorite player. Not saying in any way i dont like him. Just something to think about.
How about the sedins at the deadline for Hanifin? Maybe easier for some to swallow..
All I want for christmas this year is for the sedins to waive at the deadline and for edler to get dealt this summer. |

Not sure why we are wanting to trade our only proven young top 6 forward and future captain |

The one thing I will never change my mind about with this team is that FA gets involved in poop he has no idea about. Hamhuis at deadline, JV draft pick, the torts hire, etc. |

I am not discrediting his age, or potential. My two cents was directed at the fact that Horvat or our 1st is something I wouldn't pay for him is all. |

Why would Carolina trade a 22 year old D-man, who you deemed is worth a potential 1st overall to 5th overall pick, or Bo Horvat, for 2x 37 year old declining players on expiring contracts? |

Totally off topic but...
I saw Fury Road. It was exciting and visually stunning but I think I was disappointed with the entire package.
They had a perfect formula to work with and they (frank)ed it up. Plus, so many people talked about the amazing car chase/stunt scenes but in reality most of it was CGI or flatbed filming.
The original Road Warrior was far superior is so, so many ways. |

Pretty much, that goes for who-ever we draft.
If the kid can play, let him play.
Let's just hope its done in a progressive way. |

Oh I hear you.
Just going around twitter a bit recently and there have been words said that FA is going to let Benning do what he needs to do to get this team rebuilt. But like you I am very skeptical any of that is potentially true. |

No, Vegas has a chance at drafting him though. My best guess and from the things i've heard, mostly rumours even though Brandon is a small place.
His legs have got stronger but still are pretty weak especially after the groin surgery. He really didn't play much this year and he is looking at having a full year and being healthy.
I think it will be something like Dylan Strome, too good for junior but something missing from his NHL game. |

I dont really get what your asking?
Im basically saying that for example if JB says Nico is not ready that FA will demand that he be on the team.
My comment had nothing to do with any players talent, just that FA will come in crying and demand he play for ticket sales. |
