Yes McD had some chances he could have buried but the oil were worked over hard. Talbot was the only reason they were even in the game. It could have been 1-0 in the first 15 seconds if he didn't make a huge save.
They need to buckle down and start playing a lot smarter if they are going to make a series of this. - Iggysbff
Agreed, too many breakout passes were intercepted. Luckily Talbot was in the zone.

I have to say Talbot is up there with Price this year. Bloody lights out!
The Oilers got too interested in hitting, and they didn't do anything else. They deserved to lose. - laughs2907
They were lazy... Stupid penalties due to laziness... And spent majority of their energy in the 1st period... Now that the virgins dipped their feet in playoff hockey I would hope they are better prepared for the next games... If we don't split the series on home ice- well its pretty much impossible...
That was a horribly officiated game. So many weak calls against us and non calls against them. Hard to build any momentum when you're constantly playing down a man - Ihatebrianburke
True but some players were remaining to be passengers on the bus again - like they did for a large portion of the season- like Caggs, Gryba, and Eberle need and better elevate their games or call up other players like Slepy, Benning, Jesse... You have to be committed to not being lazy and taking shifts off in the playoffs- which is why we blew a victory last night... Talbot was and will continue to be HUGE for this team!

Aside from their penalties, I though Jewels and Eberle were two of our more engaged forwards. Both were aggressive on the forecheck and made some solid hits.
Young team with great future . You have to learn how to lose to learn how to win in the playoffs. They have not been in the playoffs for a while . Any word on when Thornton might return? - Gordzilla

We insult Eberle for his lack of points this year, yet ignore his improvements in his own zone and along the boards.
But in the end it was sloppy play and give aways that cost Edmonton the game. Sharks played a good game as well. I feel like they shut down McDavid as best as anyone can.

6 penalties in a playoff game? Incredible. Three or four of them were obviously calls, obviously the trip and the two high sticks and maybe the Lucic one, but the other guy shoulda got two for diving or cross checking.
I don't even remember the Caggs hook. And the Elbowing penalty was a joke, thought it was maybe intereference, but a weak call nonetheless

It was the refs sending a message to guys like Luc and Kassian. I don't agree with it but it is what it is.
I think the elbow was because it was Couture with the face mask on. Kinda sending a message not to hit high on a guy with a broken jaw.
Montreal got a penalty called on them with 5 min left down by 1. I would be sour if I was them
