It's built into the fabric of the penguins ....they did the greatest tank in the history of tanking for Mario - Bullfrog77
And they won two Cups largely due to it. |

yes....dumbest coach Ive ever seen behind the bench of an NHL team.
he seems like a nice guy and certainly was classy in his exit interview. - SMBDragon
Question
Do you think you can bulk up if you use no more than 5lbs weights ?
Would it be fair to complare your progress to someone with a gym membership who has access to so much more equipment ? |

A player can make any coach look bad also though. Always two ways to look at things. When drastic change happens there is probably a reason. - manvanfan
if that were true then its still on the coach for not stapling that players butt to the bench |

Feather's get ruffled huh.
You're spot on in a Nucks thread looking for support for the Laffs and Flames. - Nuck4U
Who says I'm looking for support ? Just talking hockey ...it's still on you know |

Largely? Mario never did it himself, it took getting Jagr and trading for Ron Francis among other things before they even won their first cup. I know you have strong feelings about tanking for superstars but ease up on the hyperbole and revisionist history. |

Guy is as clueless about his own team as you are - LeftCoaster
So you're going for the Pink Panther model now. The Inspector has nothing on you. I'll just wait for the next flip flop hyperbole revisionist theory. |

Fair enough. We just aren't going to agree on this. I think Willie was an awful coach and I'm excited for change. The organization appears ready to embrace a full rebuild and I think we need a fresh start behind the bench - CanuckDon
yes....me too
and it will depend on who we get as to the time it will take.
If its green expect it to take awhile. Not exactly pumped about him as his current team may be missing the playoffs. |

No coach makes our team a playoff team. A good coach could put us on track, teach kids skills and balance the roster better than Willie did. But they can't score goals, unfortunately not many players on our team can either. A good coach might take our powerplay from 29th, but its going to be to 15th not to a top 5 powerplay. A coach can only do so much without the right players, and vice versa—a certain mix of players needs a certain coach to push the right strategies for the guys he has. Were at least two years away (If we get the right player this year and develop him properly) from being anything, minimum. |

Yeah, much like Stevens I think that would be a hard guy to land. These top teams always have the best assistants. Larry Robinson has been one of the better d-coaches for a long time, but I dont think we could pry him from san jose. Maybe if FA really opens up the pocket book. |

I saw probably 85% of Mario's games. I have to say I never felt the least bit shameful that my team tanked to get him. Guy was an artist. |
