look at willies own words....if its a few guys its those guys, if its the entire team its the coach. His own words. - SMBDragon
You can't say the guy is an idiot and then say look at what he said as if he knew what he was talking about. |

And what was Jagr again? #1 or #2? - neem55
I think he was 5 or something. Wasn't he drafted after Linden?
Edit: My bad, we took Nedved that year. |

Question
Do you think you can bulk up if you use no more than 5lbs weights ?
Would it be fair to complare your progress to someone with a gym membership who has access to so much more equipment ? - Redmile247
we will never agree on your idea of players vs coach. Quit trying to change my mind.
Player quality can have an impact in the way that it gives a coach more tools to utilize, but thats IF he uses them to their potential which is STILL on the coach.

If I remember correctly, teams were afraid they might not be able to get him to North America. |

Yeah, much like Stevens I think that would be a hard guy to land. These top teams always have the best assistants. Larry Robinson has been one of the better d-coaches for a long time, but I dont think we could pry him from san jose. Maybe if FA really opens up the pocket book. - neem55

He had to flee what was the communist czechlaslocvakia, he hates communists for this reason (and just because the general oppression he faced I'm sure). |

he's not wrong about 100% everything
He was wrong about stuff that won NHL level games though.
why do talk in such absolutes? 100 % black or white with you. You dont seem to consider everything that exists in between |

the scouting report is very good indeed.
Id still pick liljegren, I like what he brings and has better size - SMBDragon
Makar is 6 months older then Liljegren. Liljegren seems like most D in the past that are projected to fight for a top 3 then seem to fall. Seth Jones, Dougie Hamilton. |

I think he was #5. - madmike71
right, well IMO opinion they picked 5 that year because of their initial tank. Just like with Malkin/Fluery/ Crosby. Canucks haven't "intentionally" had so many high picks but ultimately having a 7/4/6 and now another top5 has us on the right track one way or another. I'm not greedy, this year and next year top 2 picks. That's all I ask. |

Largely? Mario never did it himself, it took getting Jagr and trading for Ron Francis among other things before they even won their first cup. I know you have strong feelings about tanking for superstars but ease up on the hyperbole and revisionist history. - DariusKnight
Thus I said.....largely, but not totally. They had a stacked team. Much like McDavid guys wanted to play with Mario.
That doesn't take away from the fact he won the Conn Smythe both years he/they won the Cup or that he scored 78 points in 38 games those two years combined in the playoffs. |

First thing he did was buy himself an IROC Z-28 and empty the Gap of every pair of jeans in his size. |

I think we only pick d if we drop all the way to 5. JB wanted a center last year (Dubois) I see him taking one this year as there are so many.
Hirshier
Patrick
Vilardi
Necas (he's playing really well, Nucker brought him to my attention)
Middlestadt
I think there's an outside chance JB picks liljgren, just unlikely IMO |

I saw probably 85% of Mario's games. I have to say I never felt the least bit shameful that my team tanked to get him. Guy was an artist. - madmike71

I didn't think the Gap had jean in his size, thought he had to get some big ass custom fits. Either way, sounds like Jagr. Convertible no doubt, got to let that mullet flow. |

Because apparently tanking is "shameful and toilet flushing poopy thing to do" or something like that |

It's called "rebuilding" these days. It makes it less poopy. |

look at this from his scouting report
"The extraordinary talent and star potential of Liljegren, however, is so vast that not even this season seems to have ruined his reputation. He was a top prospect going into the season, and he still is. What is it about his game that makes few people doubt him? Well, the secret (which is no secret) lies in his offensive qualities. To underline this point, the fact that he is compared to Erik Karlsson and Drew Doughty, two of the NHL’s most dominant offensive d-men, probably says it all."
doesnt sound like a guy destined to fail to me. Sounds like a future star |
