I'm missing something here, it been twice now that you have criticized others for speaking in absolutes, and yet here you are speaking in absolutes about Willie as if you are more qualified than those that speak favourably about him...is that not kind of hypocritical? - Makita

It's not Desjardins' fault the Sedins are past their prime.
It's not his fault there were some injuries to key players.
It's not his fault the team has been stuck between rebuild and re-tool for years.
It's not his fault Louie Eriksson underachieved and was a questionable signing.
Scotty Bowman could not have taken that roster to the playoffs.
It's not fair but it's easy to fire the coach. - Rang
I don't believe Willie was fired solely because of the team's record and failure to make the playoffs. He was let go because many of his decisions were so obviously flawed.
The Sedins did look way past their prime when they were anchored down with Sutter, Megna, and Chaput. They looked more like their usual selves when they were playing with actual offensive talent such as Granlund and Goldobin.
Both his 'system' and the defensive structure we heard so much about last September were ineffective. By the end of the season players had abandoned it and were playing their own individual games.
The special teams were a disaster all year with only minor tweaks here and there. Expecting it to improve without substantial intervention was foolish.
Willie seems like a good guy and we wish him well, but it really was time for him to go. Management couldn't sell another year of his ideas to the players let alone the fans. |

Florida would be such a funny fit if it turns out, with the ex-Canuck history there. Maybe WD will ask for Dorsett - neem55

And what was Jagr again? #1 or #2? - neem55
5th I believe, we took Nedved 2nd OA that year... what a disaster, and that was the year the draft was in Vancouver in 1990. |

It's history alright, I could use alternative facts and say that he got us Bure a year later but... yeah, we missed the boat that year. Nedved actually had a really good rookie season too IIRC. |

He actually had a decent career. If not for the holdout he could've been a great Canuck. He was the reason we got all those players from the Blues though #1994 |
