Yup....Sven wasn't ready either...took a trade and an amazingly patient coach. I remeber everyone here slugging Willie for sticking with him that first season. And when he finally embraced a 200 ft mentality his game took off. That's where Goldy needs to get too... - Bullfrog77
Yeah so he didn't go back to the AHL, he stayed in the NHL and learned. |

If they re-sign, I'm out, I'm done as well....not something I want to continue to watch any longer. - LeftCoaster
They have had great careers and been incredible to watch at times.
Of they resigned on one year deals worth 2.5 to 3 each and put up 35 to 45 points you'd quit watching?
That would be great value for a second line.
If you stop watching I'm going to give you the nuck4U treatment and stop reading your tales.... |

I'd love too as well....but watching him play just screamed of Jr hockey...he has to engage in the play not just float around an goal suck. - Bullfrog77
I didn't see that Goldy is only doing that in his game. He carried and passed out of the zone on many occasion. Set up plays as well. Stood out when he got more ice time and felt confident or produced. But he does make mistakes and you got a point.
Defensive recovery and positioning also moves faster at the NHL level. Where even NHL casted plugs who could be AHL stars can beat you. Like the Sedins said there are certain things that need to get learned and that's only seen at the NHL level. So he's on that cusp there like Sven was on developing that. It's just, in every game and minute counts of NHL hockey, usually they don't give you much time to figure that out. |

Right....but how many of that kind of player can a team put in its lineup and coddle? That and Sven had what...3 plus seasons already in the AHL? It was put up or shut up and he got a heck of a break with our management and coaches. |

Yes....they're great guys and been the greatest Canuck players ever, but it's time for change, it's time to move on. I'd rather they walk and Benning sign some UFA's to replace them. |

Who knows at this point...but I'm pretty sure Goldie won't get more then a short look if not outright sent to Utica to start the year. |

Really is that what you said? I must have misread your post because i thought you said.
"Goldy reminds me of a Hossa type player...largely invisible for large stretches and at the end of 60 mins he has 2 goals and 2 assists. You sit there like how the (frank) did he do that
- Bullfrog77"
Largely invisible for large stretches....yup, that sure sounds like you said " his offensive game reminds me of Hossa". My mistake for misreading your clear concise comparison between two similar players.
On a similar note does anyone else here see the similarities between Edler and Karlson? They're largely invisible for the majority of the year and then bam... you realize it's summer and they have the same passport.
Maybe next time you should wait for lunch break so you can read the idiocracy spewing from your keyboard before you hit send.
Nice try though, your mom says that she's proud of you..... |

With the right linemates he'll stand out more. I guess Goldy's defensive game could improve over time or with the right coaching. But yeah can't see him ever being a Hossa type there. It's okay though if he's producing. He's got the right offensive instincts that can mesh well and make a line produce, don't you think? - Nuck4U
Winger is the easiest position by far to play. Learning defence is simply positioning & working hard mostly. Don't do that and systems break down. |

He has had shots....San Jose judged him not ready...twice..traded him, Willie saw him score a goal and benched him several times and gave him very low mins. Running theme from both organizations...they feel he's not ready. - Bullfrog77
Of course Goldy needs development. Sharks are in a win now mode. Nucks are not. What's the issue on having his game worked on at the NHL level? |
