People go to watch the players, not management and ownership. That gives them a tremendous amount of power. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. It just is. I don't necessarily disagree with you. Ovechkin is better than Kovalchuk and Radulov put together and then some. They do not want to lose him, and will do a ton to accommodate him. Even his owner is ok with him taking leave to go. Sure the Caps will be fine without him for 3 weeks or so, but the Sabres would be sunk without Eichel for instance. Like I said, it's going to get messy.

Agreed. I just cannot side with players having the right (whether they do or don't) telling the NHL, owners, coaches, and ultimately the fan bases that have supported them so much... "See'ya, I'm outta here for a month to pursue something else that interest me more than bringing you guys a cup that you pay me so handsomely to do." I'm okay with sending the message to ALL players, this will not happen.

They've had youth success all year, no reason why that wouldn't continue to a point in the playoffs, especially in the first game or two of this series. Washington will adjust and shutdown the Leaf's rookies soon enough. I'm going to go with a 4-1 Washington series win.
