Stats can (and usually are) twisted to fit a certain narrative

But stats can not, and do not, tell 100% of the story

I didn't say Boston was the best team in the league because they had the best stats in the league. I said they were really good still, because they have some of the best underlying numbers in the league.

They could lose the next 3 in OT and that won't have any effect on my opinion of them

Well apparently we have different definitions of "really good"
But your reasoning for Boston not having a better record seems to be
1) Rask played poorly
Well, he really just isn't that good anymore
Whether it's age, not as good a defense in front of him, etc
He's been pretty average for 2 straight seasons now
And
2) Bad luck
Maybe if u explained that better I wouldn't be so harsh,
But it sounds ridiculous
Bad luck to me is all the injuries teams like Us & TB had

And the bottom line is that a team's record accounts for all the things that possession stats don't count for

Boston is a borderline playoff team
Not among the teams who have a legit chance to win the Cup

So apparently through some second hand info, Gorges complains a ton about other players on this team, and isn't well liked by Eichel, Sam, Kane etc

Bad luck to me is being 2nd in the NHL in shots on goal, but having the 24th best shooting %. Especially when the previous year they were 11 spots higher.


Another sign of misfortune is outplaying most teams and having BOTH your goalies suck. They were 28th in 5 on 5 Sv%.

How about Karl Alzner for a partner for Risto, also Kris Versteeg for forward, he can play all 4 lines. Those are 2 UFA I could live with, 2 solid veteran players.

Honestly, the way he cried when Montreal traded him, this news isn't surprising. He seems the type to whine and female dog incessantly, he acts very entitled and he never shoulders the blame. How the guy got a (frank)ing A on his jersey blows my god damn mind.

Versteeg fits in very well with the Flames but didn't last year with the Kings, but I get what you are saying. Alzner is looking for north of 5 mill a year.
