How many of those teams needed a second pairing LHD, which he was likely looking at?
- kingcong39

no idea. i just know that he had some good teams vying for him from the beginning

id still be surprised if someone gave it to him. He's been very good but..
- Sabresfan-365

I would be too and I wouldn't give that kind of contract to him, BUT, he is being paid $5.75M this year and he has looked tremendous most of the time, at least in the games I have seen Montreal play.

That said, he did have a year that would be a 20 goal, 57 point player for a full 82 game season.

The question is what's that worth annually now in the current NHL?

Sad to say that it is probably $6M per.

That was my point.

Buffalo has a hole at LHD and I'm not sure how many other teams do.

He's been excellent this year, but he is going to be 31 next season.

On top of that, his shooting percentage was crazy high this year.

Let somebody else pay for that anomaly.

Best decision he ever made

- mattmoulson

He was a slow dog.

I rescued him. Only cost me two 2nd rounders

Apparently averaging 24 goals and 39 points over two seasons is worth 6m, so yeah I would agree

I mean he won't be 31 till December but I don't see any other options unless you trade but this would be just a free asset and if we could get him at the same price as Kyle it wouldn't be too bad idea imo ( maybe a 4 year deal or 3 )

He should have more points than that he was pretty dynamic this year he just creates plays out of nothing totally a different player from his Nashville days

But he really did piss away his career going to the KHL he could have been a top-10 player in his prime

I feel like they'd be better off going bargain shopping for players that produce at a cheap one year cost or players that have good underlying numbers that may produce at a cheap one year cost then going in on a contract like Oshie would likely command.

He is definitely dynamic but I would be hesitant to tie myself to him at a large number for any length of time.

yes. instead of asking for a max entry level deal, the max amount he is entitled to. He is now asking for a max entry level deal. This changes everything and thus rules buffalo out as an option.
- Sabresfan-365

Why do u say that "rules us out as an option" for signing him?

Where the hell did I say draft a defenseman over Sam or Jack?
Go ahead...
I'll wait

Come on man...
That's crazy

- jdfitz77

Jesus calm down bud.

You're listing the 1st rounders of Reino's draft and Eichel's draft in your little post about not taking enough defensemen in those rounds. My point is that there was 0 reason to mention those two picks.

Smile man. Good for your health.
