I agree it's a dumb rule that 19yr olds can't play in the AHL. It should be what's best for the development of the player, not what's best for the CHL.
I'm not actually disagreeing with you, I was just pointing out Marwoods comment....it was funny. - Kaynine
I wish Juolevi would spend two years in Utica . I don't want to see him go back to London so I am guilty of that. |

I am not sure what Goblin or Boeser are going to gain from playing in Utica. They are clearly among our top 6 forwards already and they will hopefully continue to make strides this summer. I know it's the popular opinion around here to sh!t all over everything Canucks but Boeser is definitely ready. Look at all these NCAA plugs that have made playoff team rosters that have less skill and pedigree than Boeser. |

There's hundreds of kids playing in the NCAA, it's not a common occurrence is all I'm saying. |

OJ should be going through Utica but that is not an option. If you read Canucks Army they are predicting OJ on the Canucks. I have heard many media members saying he will play on the Canucks too. It is a flawed system but I don't see OJ back in London next year. - VANTEL
One more year in junior won't hurt him. Bringing him into the NHL when he is not ready will. |

yup pretty much. 4th round picks are coming straight out of the NCAA and playing top 9 roles. It's bad to rush prospects and it's equally bad to stunt their growth because you are shell shocked by the Virtanen experiment! Wake up posters! |

Same thing could be said for both JV and McCann, IMO both should have spent all of last yr in Utica. I think JV's development would be farther along if that was the case. Him playing Van last yr gave him a bit of self entitlement. |

Canucks problem is their prospects are better than the regulars. It is hard to sell to the fan base you are keeping a prospect down while they watch the crap they are tossing out and charging $150.00 for.
Prime example was how many people this year screamed to bring in Subban ? There were a lot of empty seats this year at the end and ownership is probably pissed.
They are starting a rebuild three years too late. - VANTEL
Wow that is a bold statement, the prospects were better than the regulars, and here I thought you didn't smoke wacky tabacky.
Prospects, Chaput, Megna, Goldobin, Molino, Gaunce, Pedan, Rodin, Larsen, not one of them played better than the regulars.
Stecher and Tryamkin, played some descent hockey....sometimes, but did not play better than the regulars |

No one is poopting all over their prospects, they're just being realistic about them. I'll give you Goldoblin, he could step into the Canucks lineup as he's already had two years in the AHL but he's still got a bunch to learn.
Same goes for Boeser. I was shaking my head at the others though, I would bet they'd be hard pressed to see 100 NHL games. |

As much as playing in the NHL too early can hinder your development so can playing in a league where everything comes too easy. OJ needs to be pushed, and play against better competition.
Even though he's signed a contract with Van, can he be loaned to a European team? |

Who are you referring to? Dahlin, Bris, Guadette and Lockwood (our next tier of prospects)? No arguments there, they should be brought along slowly in Utica. |

In the last 5 years here are the Canucks that have played a full year in AHL Comets or Wolves on Canucks
Gaunce Baertchi
Here are the players that have come from NCAA to Canucks
Hutton Stecher Molino Boeser |

OJ is a tough one. I am on the fence with him. Parts of his game are clearly NHL ready and others aren't. I am not sure what better for his long term development at this stage. Hopefully his offseason progress will provide clarity. |

I'm not sure what your point is? You called the NCAA the "minor leagues", it's not, it's junior hockey equivalent. Playing in the AHL is a lot harder than playing junior hockey, however, when you have a poopty team and you're drafting kids out of the NCAA or signing them as UFA's...ya sure, they can play for your team.
That doesn't take away from the fact they need further development in pro hockey. |

Europe might be an option but we've seen too many recent examples of putting young players in positions that they are not ready for yet in regards to playing in the NHL. Whether it be physically, mentally, maturity or skill-wise. |

Well I think you are wrong on both counts, Guance, Chaput and Megan are all prospects that belong in Utica and were sorely missed there this year.
I could see Boeser making a case for next year, Goldobin I'll side with Coacher assessment that you used a couple a days ago. |

Those kids are dime a dozen, everyone's got those guys. The chances of them making it are slim and none. That's not poopting on them it's just reality. Hey I hope they surprise, but I doubt it. |

If the London Knights are bounced from the playoffs would OJ be picked to play at the WC? That would be a test for him to see if he's NHL ready.

We have 2 players that have played a full year in Utica that are current members of the Canucks
I Won't count Boeser or Molino seeing they have so few games , but we still have 2 players jump from NCAA that have stuck. It is an effective way to find roster players |

Megan neither of these guys are prospects. They belong in Utica because they aren't and will never be decent NHL players. |
