If that was the case back then, it does not appear to be the case now. All the coverage of him on the Avs has been very top notch. Accepting of being in the AHL, praising his coaching staffs for working with him after practice etc.
Im sure being traded was a wake up call for him if he was like that at all bc the beat writers I'm twitter friends with say hes one of the best guys they get to cover. - DDM-Coga
And that's fine but he's not our problem anymore so it really doesn't matter to me. I hope he works out for the AVS.

It doesn't hurt that they're getting career years from every player on their roster. Good luck counting on that from year to year. - Hatboro_Swords
Um.....half the team were rookies, so even if they had put up 30 points each they would have been career years.
The veterans had career years because they are now 2nd line or 3rd line players and have better matchups each night. I expect their production will be quite similar next year (assuming the are all brought back), but any decrease they might have will be more than offset by the increased production from the rookies.

Sharks won't turn the lights on for the Oilers practice, what s joke. The Sharks shouldn't be in the playoffs, just like the Wild another overrated team.
The Leafs are a dynasty in the making. 3 of the best young forwards in the league and 3 great young defensemen. Lots of cap space to add Tavares in the next year or so via trade or as a UFA.
The Sabres will be looking up at the Leafs for the next decade. - Losman

like who?
Is JVR? with one more point than his old career high, but one less goal? his production this year was almost perfectly consistent with what he's done every year the last 5 years.
kadri? I'll give you that one but he almost surely would have beat that in the shortened season.
bozak. sure. but he's also had a couple of seasons in the past at the same scoring pace, just not full seasons.
those three had good years, but not out of line with past production.
in contrast, komarov and Morgan Rielly had terrible years.
the rest are all rookies, so I think the only way you're statement makes sense is if you include all the rookies as "career years". which I guess technically is true. they all had the best year (out of 1) they've ever had. I guess I could just as easily say the entire team had the worst year they've ever had, and next year will be way better though.
it's funny the poop people will say to downplay the leafs success. a team of rookies and somehow "they all had career years" is being used to discredit them. lol.
so lets clear this up here. Zads is immature bc he slept in but ROR is allowed to make mistakes running into a building while drinking and driving?
Varly who was cleared of this and no charges were filed.... the was sued by this girl in a civic trial...the juror actually ruled in favour of Varly who found her at fault for emotional stress and she had to pay him for his legal fees. So yeah what mistake did he do?
They are better, and have better prospects. Oh and have a legit top 4 defense. - sbroads24
...that allowed 19 more goals than the Sabres tire fire. hmmmm... Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Either they're not quite as good as you say they are, or you have to give more credit to Lehner. That puts you in a sticky spot, eh?

The young guys will be even better next year. They're better now than at the start of the season. Lou will tweak the defence and they'll allow fewer goals against. You might as well come to terms with the fact that the hated Leafs will be a fixture in the playoffs.

Well, considering 3 of their top 5 D-men all missed considerable time this year, not really.
They also play a very entertaining, wide open style of hockey where their defense actually scores goals.
......and their goalies are downright awful. Lehner is certainly better than anything they have
