but the collectively make less than moulson
- Michael Pachla
Sure...
but it doesn't save us $$$ on the Cap to have Baptiste up & Moulson in AHL
Maybe like 200,000 or something like that
I'd love if we could get Moulson traded
But I seriously doubt he gets buried |

I meant Capfriendly. My bad.
I can't believe someone is arguing keeping Moulson here and others are backing it up. What kind of bizarro world is this? Playoff teams do this all the time dude. It's called realizing you're stuck with an over the hill vet and doing what you can to keep him away from your young, growing team. Those rookies especially Baptiste and Bailey were yanked around all year if they played on one line consistently I'd bet they would be of better service to the team. - bluengold12
I am NOT saying I want Moulson here
I'm saying I doubt Murray buries him
He's a vet
Still produces
The young guys don't produce as much as u think
Would I rather have Baptiste here?
Yes
But I don't think Murray will do that for all the reasons I listed |

He's not getting traded. He's getting bought or sent to Rochester. Book it now.
As far as hardest to move that goes to BADgosian by a mile. He's paid compared to a top pairing defenceman for three more years he has the worst hockey sense I've ever seen and is incredibly injury prone. - bluengold12
I disagree. No gm would want a 33 year old scoring winger that doesn't score at 5 mil. There's probably a gm dumb enough to take a chance on Bogosian |

No worries
I'm just playing Devil's advocate anyways
I hope taking Moulson is the "favor" from McPhee to pay back GMTM
That would be great |

You'd rather he be in Rochester (frank)ing with those young players? We're stuck with him. Buying him out is a bad idea. Far right column. https://www.capfriendly.c...t_calculator/matt-moulson |

Isn't the Moulson buyout kinda high still though?
Hang on...
I'll check
EDIT
2017-18 $2,833,333
2018-19 $3,833,333
2019-20 $833,333
2020-21 $833,333
So 18-19 is the one that hurts bc that's the start of Jack, Sam & (probably) Kane's new contracts |

I'm telling you teams do this all the time. And good ones at that. Chicago has done this a lot. As has Toronto. He produced in inflated powerplay time and otherwise is invincible, he can't skate or play defensively. |

The point is Moulson can be justified for being bought out or sent to Rochester. Neither I think can be traded. BADgosian won't get bought out or sent down because Murray knows he has nothing to replace him with and will justify keeping him because he's still only 27 |

I'm just saying I don't think Moulson hurts this team on the fourth line and PP. If it came down to fourth line v. AHL I'd rather have him here |

We aren't "good" though
Can't compare us with Chicago
Maybe you're right though
We're just gonna have to agree to disagree here |

Buying him out is only really like a 3 mill hit in two years and a two hit this year. Worth it. And I'd rather him in Rocheter competing against worse competition then poisoning our all star cornerstone talent. Yes, yes I would. |

It's time to start acting like a good team though and doing things like showing your balls and sending a "nice guy" vet like Moulson to Rochester sends that message. We'll see but I know what I'd do. |

I'd rather just wait a year to buy him out. Next year we *shouldn't* be hurting for cap |

Did I miss something about Moulson "poisoning" the room?
As far as I remember,
Jack had nothing but good things to say about Moulson... |

This is a playoffs or massive overhaul year for the Sabres. Can't afford to have him on the team anymore. Need to win now. |

Nothing to do with his personality. It's his poisonous play |

I ran the numbers for that too
3.7mil caphit if bought out next year
Hopefully we can just get Vegas to take him
Otherwise we might be stuck |

You're exaggerating here dude
10min a night on the 4th line, and some PP2 time (where he's still pretty good), won't "poison" anyone |

Antipin + 1 more top4 defenseman & we legit compete for a playoff spot
Probably make it
Just think if Kulikov & Bogo were decent this year
And also add a decent forward from a team with Cap &/or expansion issues...
And I think we are definitely in the playoffs |
