I never really saw this reported nationally, but Mario Lemieux demanded Ray Shero hire Jaques Martin to help Dan make some changes to his vaunted system. Also to help him handle adjustments in the playoffs. Apparently Dan completely ignored him or any input.

At the end of the day, the Pens owners lamented they wished they fired him sooner. Yes, they candidly admitted that.

I can't imagine why Buffalo would waste another year with this guy.

Ennis is the "favor" from Vegas. Zemgus for a pick or prospect. Moulson and a 2nd for a bag of pucks at the draft. Sign Antipin. Guhle is going to be a stud. Ullmark backs up.

Chance of success weighs heavily upon the defense. Antipin goes elsewhere and Guhle isn't ready = another top5 pick. If Guhle does well and Antipin is a Zaitsev 2.0 then....

I think u have a few too many guys too high up
If they disappoint, we likely struggle quite a bit

But I don't think you're too far off...
just need a few tweaks imo

So take out Nylander, he should start in the AHL
If at some point he's playing so well that we need to bring him up...
then great, that gives us more scoring depth
Maybe we can get a guy like Nash from NyR (they need to dump him badly), or take advantage of some other team with expansion &/or Cap issues

Rodrigues looked pretty decent at the end of the season...
but I think to start, Larsson is still ahead of him
If E-rod passes him at some point throughout the season,
then again that gives us more depth

This is going to be a common theme with me here
Instead of "needing" young guys to step up & fill roles they may not be ready for, I'd rather make sure we are solid at those spots

Brings me to Guhle & Antipin
Antipin is 24 & been playing in a legit league, doing quite well
He seems ready for a top4 spot
But not Guhle...
like u said, if he struggles we'd be screwed
***Murray MUST trade for AT LEAST 1 top4 defenseman (I'm hoping 2)
Keeping Guhle on the 3rd pair to start makes all kinds of sense
We can limit his icetime if he struggles, & manage his matchups better than if we were depending on him in the top4
And if he plays well...
then we have a legit defense
