i dont think thats how the presidents role really works in todays nhl. far less hands on it seems.

It sounds like they really want to add a guy with experience, and thats fine, just have the day to day guy be someone from this era. Let lombardi handle all the extras.

Not a fan of bringing in Lombardi. He had a few great deadline trades in the first cup year but the way the NHL moves now the Kings style of play is a bit outdated. He also as others have mentioned hasn't drafted very well. This sounds like a good bet though given Pegula's habit of going with reliable conservative guys lately.

Lane Lambert almost had the Avs job. Being Trotz right hand man for the past 7 years, he apparently knew his poop and knows how to develop young kids being Preds AHL head coach for years too

Just heard John Shannon on Fan 590 and he said he has heard whispers around the league that Boston University coach Quinn (don't know his first name) is a leading candidate for Sabres coach.

Shannon is pretty well connected but who knows.

David Quinn just signed a 5 year extension at BU. I don't know if he has any NHL out clauses
