David Quinn has a pretty nice gig. He was the Avs AHL coach and Assistant coach before going to BU.

I think it would take a lot to get him out of BU. He has the ultimate recruiting program there, always a powerhouse, and probably is paid a good amount of coin (not nhl money level though)

Edit: He just signed a 5 year extension at BU in 2015

Futa was named assistant GM in LA. And LA for the past few years have not allowed teams to be in contact with him.

Paul Fenton would be the guy to try and pry out of Nashville. He has been Poiles right hand man for years and look at their drafting and developing record.

Don't really have the confidence in T-Pegs to make a good hire. If he hires a president of hockey ops or something, maybe. But if he thinks he can run the team successfully on his own then I'll end up in the same place with the Sabres as I have with the Bills...not watching. The Bills obviously aren't all his fault but he hasn't shown anything that makes one think he's going to improve them.

Well there goes the alleged favor that the Vegas GM allegedly owes us.....

Today is a good day for "accountability". It also suggests that the Pegula's weren't going to listen to anymore excuses about why the Sabres are further away from a championship than when he bought the team. Of course, they are partly to blame for not setting up the right structure as Pach has noted and by making the wrong management and coaching hires.

Looking forward, I don't want anything to do with old dinosaurs like Sutter, Dejardians (ex Canuck coach) or Ruff. Let's get a proven, young, progressive coach in there. I like the idea of Lombardi as some type of "godfather" type - re: Lamoriello - who oversees the entire hockey operation. In terms of the GM, there have been some good names thrown out there by others on this thread.

Hopefully Jack doesn't get stuck with being responsible for their firing. Quite frankly, both Disco and Murray deserved it after this dysfunctional season. My only hope is that whomever gets the Hockey Ops/GM role doesn't use the word "suffering" in a sentence when it comes to the Sabres. Unless he says "the suffering for Sabres fans ends today".

Mentioned this last week but ill say it again. Lombardi should be brought in as a VP of Hockey Ops. If he wants to bring Futa over to be the GM also all the better. Leafs gave the blue print on how to create a front office. Sabres would be best to follow. Other GM candidates other then Futa id look at are Fenton (NSH), Botterill (PIT), Dudley (MTL).
