Maybe we should go for Sergei Federov or Nick Lidstrom, since everyone else from those red wings teams seem to be good GMs
Or poach Kyle Dubas |

I hope they hire someone under the age of 40 - robz228
I hope they hire someone that can do the job. I don't care who it is, or how old they are, or if they show "fire" behind the bench. I just want someone who can do the damn job competently. A competent job last year and the Sabres are playing tonight. |

Richards and carter were essential moves to their cup win...he got the job done...
the goal is to win the cup, by an means necessary...worry about the rest later - Michael Pachla
it is true, it was the pieces that got them over the hump to round things out but he did what GMTM did already with ROR and Kane...emptied the prospect bank to get established younger guys.
Maybe he learns and changes his way but the way he did his work the past 4 years with the Kings, he really is out of touch with things. You did see what he put together for the Team USA World Cup team. Dont forget he was the GM of that team as well |

Our "depth" goes out the door IF, we get rid of Lehner like everybody wants, Petersen decides not to come here and Vegas takes Ullmark. - macman9
We would protect Ullmark if we move on from Lehner.

Fedorov likes being home, I doubt he'd come back over. Though Wikipedia says he still lives in Miami and Detroit in the summer. Talk about dichotomy. Detroit and Miami. And Moscow. Trichotomy? |

yeah...that usa team was pretty ugly...if they bring him aboard, put him atop the hockey ops and hire an young, up-and-coming, forward-thinking gm |

I like the Sabres team, so much talent there. I just would hate to see a guy like him brought on board who just has been so short sighted with trying to build teams in an outdated matter.
He is a long time hockey mind but anything more than just an advisor type role, I would hate it if it were my team. |

am hearing a lot about him being a dinosaur...and I get that...that said, he does have tons of experience and connections which is what they need right now |

What's the spread for these gonna be? Heres my guess
vs NYJ (-3)
at CAR (+7)
vs DEN (+3)
at ATL (+10)??
at CIN (+7)
vs TB (pickem)
vs OAK (+3)
at NYJ (+3)
Can easily see them going 2-7 here |

I also fear that Pegula will want to act quick (As he kind of needs to) And not wait for some of the more up in coming Assistant GM's on current playoff teams. Lombardi in Pegula's mind could be perfect choice. Two cups won, Has vast experience, no nonsense (A recent Pegula trend), and vast connections.
I think it will be the wrong move but the right one could prove to be tricky in terms of timing and risk. |

I couldn't believe how he traded Budaj this season. Saves their bacon fighting them into close to playoff contention, then ships him off.
I just think this org can do better than him. |

Nobody is going to trade for Lehner before the expansion draft, so you're hoping that Vegas would take Lehner, They also have to tender Ullmark firstbefore they could expose him to the expansiondraft. |

tbh, the guy I wanted to head the hockey ops was tallon in florida...he got crapped on last off season and might have been poachable...really wanted gallant as coach too |
