Nobody is going to trade for Lehner before the expansion draft, so you're hoping that Vegas would take Lehner, They also have to tender Ullmark firstbefore they could expose him to the expansiondraft. - macman9
Lehner doesnt have a contract next year. Just don't sign him. Move on.

That 1st round pick for Lehner didn't help but, Kulikov and Franson should have been gone at the deadline. He got offered a late pick for Kulikov. - SABRES 89
I understand him not giving Kulikov away. You don't want to set a precedent that when desperate you'll just give a guy away, or massively overpay. Basically make a rash decision when your back is against the wall. You have to show that you have a price and if the other guy doesn't want to meet it then he can (frank) off.
A 6th round pick is next to useless. But showing that you're not going to cave just because you need to get rid of someone is better in the long run. The long run in this case being a month and a half. |

I also fear that Pegula will want to act quick (As he kind of needs to) And not wait for some of the more up in coming Assistant GM's on current playoff teams. Lombardi in Pegula's mind could be perfect choice. Two cups won, Has vast experience, no nonsense (A recent Pegula trend), and vast connections.
I think it will be the wrong move but the right one could prove to be tricky in terms of timing and risk. - bluengold12
This isn't the NFL, I don't think being in the playoffs affects whether or not an Assistant GM can take a GM job with another team. |

Yeah. Why exactly are we letting Lehner go for nothing? lol |

As much as I don't like the trade for Lehner, I don't think exposing him is a good idea, especially now. The first they traded is now a sunk cost, and he is the best you have to work with. Now, granted, if he demands a six year contract, then that's a different story. |

Why does everyone hate lehner? The first round pick is old news. He saves enough pucks to be a starter.
Wanting him gone for the bad trade is silly. Give him 3-4 mil for 2-3 years. |

So you wan to move on from the one guy who stood up and challenged his teammates to play harder, and Oh by the way, had a decent season in goal. |

I'm guessing 2 for $7M. A not insignificant bump and a couple years to prove he deserves big money. |

Read on a different board that TPegs has a Director of Hockey Ops ready to be introduced tomorrow.
Makes sense. I would think TPegs would rather talk about the future than the past.

I'm pretty sure it was Colin White? Miserable trade looking back, but it should not affect Lehner at all, just the GM that just got fired |

I think it's just more noticeable in the NFL because so many coaches/coordinators change jobs, and ones on good teams get head coaching jobs. It's relatively uncommon in hockey. |

As I said which was ignored on here. Ruff wants to retire. Maybe that changed once he was offered a position that allowed him to stay in Buffalo much more often but I doubt it.
My bet goes on Kevyn Adams |

FWIW, my buddy who has spoken to Murray several times told me today that Murray knew this was a real possibility. Maybe Pegula will act quickly - sbroads24

can't see Terry Pegula holding a press conference tomorrow to just take questions. Wouldn't surprise me if he named a hockey president
