if a gm is trying to shed salary
not a stretch for them to protect ullmark and leave lehner unprotected
also, don't be surprised if ror is dealt to vegas to save cap - homiedclown

Today is a good day for "accountability". It also suggests that the Pegula's weren't going to listen to anymore excuses about why the Sabres are further away from a championship than when he bought the team. Of course, they are partly to blame for not setting up the right structure as Pach has noted and by making the wrong management and coaching hires.
Looking forward, I don't want anything to do with old dinosaurs like Sutter, Dejardians (ex Canuck coach) or Ruff. Let's get a proven, young, progressive coach in there. I like the idea of Lombardi as some type of "godfather" type - re: Lamoriello - who oversees the entire hockey operation. In terms of the GM, there have been some good names thrown out there by others on this thread.
Hopefully Jack doesn't get stuck with being responsible for their firing. Quite frankly, both Disco and Murray deserved it after this dysfunctional season. My only hope is that whomever gets the Hockey Ops/GM role doesn't use the word "suffering" in a sentence when it comes to the Sabres. Unless he says "the suffering for Sabres fans ends today". - SabreWest

I'm told Pegulas were looking for answers on how to proceed, and Murray didnt have many, or any. Bylsma was collateral damage swept w/GMTM

I will remain cautiously optimistic, in other words my attitude about it isn't changing one bit. |

I'm extremely skeptical about this. its almost as if Murray just gave up. Seems odd. |

"Kim and I have decided......"
I like how they pretend Kim Pegula is an owner too, and not the wife of an old rich guy she hitched her wagon too
And I wonder if Terry is actually making the calls here or doing so on the whim of his wife
Either way, her qualifications as a waitress does not bode well for her having any say in sports franchises decisions |

Many better ways to do that imo. I think ROR is worth every penny
*ducks* - jcragcrumple
Agreed 100%. ROR is the least of our problems. For Pete's sake, the guy played for Team Canada in September and he has played for Team Canada in the world's for the past 3 years (including this year).

There are no former pro-hockey playing owners other than Lemieux. Tpegs watched hockey growing up, and that's about the best case scenario: a passionate owner with money. I have faith they'll get the right people involved. |

Mentioned this last week but ill say it again. Lombardi should be brought in as a VP of Hockey Ops. If he wants to bring Futa over to be the GM also all the better. Leafs gave the blue print on how to create a front office. Sabres would be best to follow. Other GM candidates other then Futa id look at are Fenton (NSH), Botterill (PIT), Dudley (MTL). - Pegullaville
Futa is a no go as he just took a new job as assistant GM and LA wont allow teams to talk to him. |

It seems the Pegula's have finally had enough of losing. They've had enough of trusting big talkers. They really thought coming into the sports world all they had to do to achieve success was throw around big $$$ and everything would be great. Boy were they wrong. That works in real estate.
With the Bills and now the Sabres the Pegula's seem to be ushering in an era of responsibility and reason. This is a great opportunity. I couldn't have imagined throwing another season down the toilet with those two. |
