They wanted Drury he didn't want to be here, Briere did but they didn't want him. JP Dumont is another unhappy EX Sabre. I hope they choose someone with experience in GM and Coach. Enough is enough with this playing around crap. - SABRES 89
I cried like a little girl when Danny left ... Surprised to hear about JP tbh
Agreed on the rest of your post.. |

That was my impression, so I guess I'm questioning if Drury would want to be here as a GM if he didn't want to be here as a player. Not that I want Drury as our next GM |

JP was a good player and they kicked him to the curb to free up money for Danny's arbitration. I'm not surprised he doesn't like us. |

My recollection is that they didn't have any conversations with Dumont until after Briere and Drury left. Then the called JP and wanted to sign him, and he felt burned |

although I get what you're saying, am of the opinion that an assistant gm wouldn't pass up a gm position - Michael Pachla
depends on the situation though. For example, there's a lot of rumour that most of the good work done in the last few years with the pens is Botterill's doing and not rutherford.
Its just speculation of course but in a scenario like that you could understand why an assistant gm doing gm work without any of the gm pressure may pass on a different GM job |

Dumont left after the 05-06 season, Drury and Briere left after 06-07. |

why do all the work and have the credit go to someone else?...plus, assistants are in the business to climb the ladder...at least the young ones are |

3 years into the rebuild, and Rochester was awful.
That's not a good look.
Give me a GM that knows how to manage assets, and knows what a good defensemen looks like today, not 4 years ago |

Nice blog Mike as always.
Congrats to you and all the Sabres fans. I think they both needed to go. All that murrency and no results. Too bad you can't fire the owner. - Matthews_Auston
He gave Winnepeg and Colorado most of it, for a couple players in return... |

He better get this one right or he's going to look like more of a fool, the Bills and Sabres as of now have been a joke under him and his empty promises. |

He had the right idea by bringing in LaFontaine to oversee hockey operations. He just should have chosen a much better candidate. |

Still a better owner than Golisano or the league. He'll find his way. He's passionate and has a lot of money. Experience will help |

Nothing worse than having a poopty owner. Had to deal with that crap in Toronto for decades. |

I cant' give Pegula too much grief. If he wasn't the owner than who? We had a cheap businessman. A corrupt family. Some corporation may buy them and run the team based purely on money and not hockey. At least, Pegula is a fan and loves the team and game. I just hope that now that he has a few years under his belt as the owner, he's wised up, made some connections and will have learned from his mistakes. |

That's the big thing especially since he is willing to spend. |

Passion and money mean nothing, he has no knowledge as to how to go about moving both team forward. |
