They say it was "high end" of comparable according to Dan Murphy. I don't know who would really be a comparable. I figure it was somewhere around 1.5-1.8 per season.

The factors I mentioned are motivators. Besides timing and personal reasons. A clear top 4 roster spot & money speaks volumes.

A year is optimistic but at least Olympics will be done. Why I said mull over his development. But a lot can happen too. I think 2 to 3 years from now is realistic.

I don't want to say yeah I've closed the door on him coming back, but. JB gave him a contract that he wanted and had to convince him to come over. He went home after just 1 season, he didn't even give it a chance. Van even talked about him being a core piece moving forward, which in my eyes says his icetime and playing situation would improve. So, IMO chances of him coming back would be slim.

With all the issues he was having he said frack it. I'll go back play tons of minutes. Try for Olympics and collect good pay while being at home with family. Evaluate where I am at in development. Then hear what the Canucks have to say about team and new contract. Wouldn't you if given a choice?
