There's potentially a ton of value to be found in Russian prospects if a franchise thinks outside the GD box for once & establishes an infrastructure for their NHL success... Start by hiring a Russian Canucks alum (Larionov? What's he doing these days outside representing a few Russian players...) to live here, be their advocate, make them feel at home, be present in team situations to translate etc... Any franchise that does something like that could become the go-to NHL destination for top Russian talent... - DrChristianTroy
Great idea the Russians need a bit more hand holding for sure |

Or maybe read between the lines and come up with a different wildly speculative option and push that instead...let's see...oh it's because Goldy hit on his wife and Tryamkin needed to get out of town before she left completely...it's all there in the media report if you read between the lines and make up what you want.
Only a one year deal... well that shatters the stupid assumption he left because he was only offered a 2 year deal. - Makita
Hmmm so that's who took the picture of Goldy and his car....

don't know if this was touched on in the tail end of the last thread, with Bylsma being fired in Buffalo, Should Van consider him as well as a candidate for Coach? |

I wish it was that simple this draft is crazy...I change my top 5 daily - CanuckDon
The first round sure, but the first few picks appear pretty straight-forward.
Going by the scouting services, the general consensus seems to be:
Patrick
Hischier
Mittelstadt,
Vilardi,
with the 5th and on being all over the map. |

I'm just really pleased that Liljegren has finally been exposed. I was worried Gradin would pressure Benning into selecting him - CanuckDon
That means then Benning will take him at 2 |

That reminds me of the story about Smyl's wife taking Larionov and Krutov's wives to the grocery store for the first time and they tried to buy every chicken in the store until it was explained to them that there are chickens here everyday. |

So a young Russian wanting to go home to his family somehow tarnishes the team's reputation league-wide lol?

That means then Benning will take him at 2 - VANTEL
The problem is that no players in this draft will be ready for the nhl for a year or so,they have the size but not the talent !every thin to say the least but that could be a good thing, gives the Canucks a few years to develop properly |

Tryamkin didn't want to be here, plain and simple.
They had to bribe him last year to come over and they had to put up with his refusal to even do a conditioning stint in Utica at the beginning of the year.
He had the potential to be a dominant force in the NHL but over the last couple of months of the season did we really see any big hits or aggressive play from him?
His body language when he was called for penalties or on the ice for goals against showed plenty of frustration. And not the good, motivating kind of frustration.
Forget the talk of whether or not he'll sign back here again and move on. JB swung for the fences with him as a draft pick. Sounded good coming off the bat, had the distance, everyone was on their feet cheering what they thought was the game winner, but it turned out to be just another disappointing foul ball. - YeOldTimer
Agreed! And it's weird cause the coach got fired and he still didn't want to get involved, somthing not right and I'd say it's starts with Jim! He couldn't sell it! |
