No RFA's this year... Waste of resources at this point in the rebuild IMO. - DrChristianTroy
You mean Dustin Penner wasn't worth all those picks at the beginning of the Oilers decade of struggles?! |

LA and Chicago are looking to move cap, this is just a fact. If we all agree this team is going to suck for at least three years. I don't see the harm in taking one of these bad contracts on in exchange for a 1st and prospect kind of trade. Vegas will be a likely trade target for this. - neem55
Yes Vegas will be open to Cap dump trades. Plus they can go after like 9 RFA's I think is their limit.
Nucks not a Cap floor team so they don't have the same room for a Cap dump contract. But my thought was maybe they could get in on a Vegas deal in a multi- team trade perhaps with LA, Hawks or Bolts.
Like moving a vet (Tanev/Edler/Sutter/LE/DD) to or through Vegas to the Cap dumping team. Then get a Vegas draft picked up player or prospect add on from Cap dumping team in return. |

I agree that were bad for a while, but it should be 'all-in' on getting 23 year old and under top-6 elite players. The draft gives you these potentially, a signing like this is a guarantee (barring injury) - neem55
The only downside to this is the price you pay to get them. You'd have to be strategic with balancing the price to get the player signed and pricing it out of the other team's cap overage (the 10% over the cap), and then consider the long term cost of the draft picks.
Like Burke said when he didn't match for Penner, I expect those to be very high/good picks. A Drouin won't pull the team out of the top 10 picks, so we'd be losing some good future assets IMO |

well a lot of Nuck players seem to do being doing better when they go to other teams. So it's either the coaching, culture or rust from the rain soaked environment - Nuck4U
Maybe Benning can trade Megna and Chaput for those scrubs, Nathan MacKinnon and Matt Duchene.

Benning doesn't strike me as the offer sheet type of guy, Gillis was more of that type, personality-wise. - Nucker101
Not to mention rebuild teams should not be giving up first round picks |

A team like Winnipeg that has a lot of prospect depth could afford to go the offer sheet route for a game breaker. But as evident with this season's call ups, the Canucks do not have a whole lot of anything, prolonging a rebuild by getting minimal help now and none coming later |

On the flip side of reality. Who do you see as Nuck tradable assets?
I listed a scenario on previous page with Neems. Like if Nucks could try to get in on a multiplayer deal. Maybe have Vegas retain salary moving them to contending team. Complicated of course. So not likely. |

Yes. Agree. On another note on depth that you mentioned. It is changing to more youth coming in and signed for next season. Broke it down on page 13. It's a Comets bonanza compared to prior seasons. Looking at that does it make depth better? |

Even though it is wrong Aquillini will be pushing to have youth in the lineup. He knows attendance will be down a lot next year. - VANTEL
I will be buying tickets. I more excited about next season than any of the last 4. Roster turnover. Change |

I've said for a long time that cap space is an asset during a rebuild. But of course, Loui Eriksson had to be brought in Still can't believe that some people don't understand how having cap space gives you trade leverage and how valuable that is during a rebuild.
Opens up tons of possibilities to take on a bad contract and also acquiring a draft pick and/or prospect without having to give up much value, or any value. |

I'm not sure my skills would improve if I played div 10 beer league. Sure I'd be the best player in the league and get top line minutes so that's something |

With all the talk about trading Edler and Tanev, what do you replace them with? Remember, there is probably a good chance we lose Sbisa in the expansion draft. - Kaynine

It'll be impossible to replace Tanev, but getting rid of Edler would be addition by subtraction no matter who takes his mins. - DrChristianTroy

Yes. But even without signing LE. Nucks aren't a cap floor team. So doing that is not a good fit for Nucks. Even now they are six contracts away from even considering that. By the time those are gone retaining the developing players will have gotten them up there again. |

Edit: mine is Pasternak 6x 6mil and Drouin same. Both teams have cap issues, both players are worth the picks. - neem55
