Are you part of the expose Edler to Vegas group? - CanuckDon
Lefty told me Vegas is guaranteed 3rd pick, they can't slide to 6th. Is this true? |

Yes. Agree. On another note on depth that you mentioned. It is changing to more youth coming in and signed for next season. Broke it down on page 13. It's a Comets bonanza compared to prior seasons. Looking at that does it make depth better? - Nuck4U
Didn't see it, but no it doesn't make it better IMO. There isn't enough near-NHL ready depth, nor is there any top end talent that is close either, Utica will be a very young and inexperienced team. They will have ups and downs and until there is further development, they could all be great, average or busts. I think Utica has its best potential in a long time, but potential is just that, potential and not guaranteed |

Not to mention rebuild teams should not be giving up first round picks - VANTEL
That seems like common sense...but I guess it's not? |

I'm not sure my skills would improve if I played div 10 beer league. Sure I'd be the best player in the league and get top line minutes so that's something - CanuckDon
Gio left for the KHL around the same age and he ended up ok

Exposing him to Vegas is smarter than waiting until the trade deadline and hoping he changes his mind about a trade? |

Yes. But even without signing LE. Nucks aren't a cap floor team. So doing that is not a good fit for Nucks. Even now they are six contracts away from even considering that. By the time those are gone retaining the developing players will have gotten them up there again. - Nuck4U
Not just Loui alone, part of the reason why I disliked the Bonino/Sutter trade as well was the cap hit difference. I thought giving Sbisa 3.6 mil was idiotic. All of that adds up to a large chunk of cap space that could have been used to acquire young assets from teams simply by eating bad contracts.
People kept saying things like:
"Cap space doesn't matter"
"Stop freaking out over small moves that don't effect the big picture"
But guess what....all of these things add up. |

He is going to get top minutes and should gain a lot of confidence
There have been a few guys go over and come back and succeed - Redmile247
Yes true. Like Gio. Also take as an example, 6th rounder Leo Komarov had 9 points in 42 games for Toronto as a 25 year old on a one year ELC.
He went back to play in the KHL for a year and landed a 4 year $11.8 million contract. Looks like a great deal for Toronto now

Getting rid of him for nothing is stupid. He has trade value. There's dmen worse than him getting 3-4M in free agency every year. |

Yes, it's a well document fact that Vegas will be awarded the 3rd pick Lefty likes to take credit for the announcement but he didn't break the story |

Didn't Edler say that it'd be hard to okay for a team that didn't want you around? I think he can be traded even if he only provides a 3-5 team list. Yes I'll take even a 3rd rounder over nothing.
Losing him for nothing in the expansion draft would be just another embarrassment for this franchise. |

Everybody wants Edler to get the (frank) out of town but it may take time. Benning should pressure him all season until he agrees to a move. A TDL deal could get a couple decent picks |

Of course not... I'm just sick of the guy. If I were Benning I'd have been in his ear about waiving since the day I got hired. I don't believe it's disrespectful to have those discussions just because of a clause in a contract that was meant to afford the player the right to say no thanks. |

Yes. Why I said they are like 6 contracts away from considering. I get the strategy. But you are advocating a cap floor team technique. At least one void of large contracts. Nucks were never one and were building to try to compete. That was the goal while minimizing impact to future growth assets. Cap always gets eaten there.
Again, in theory you are right about the potential benefit. But the reality of doing it for the Nucks, even now, is years away, if ever IMO. |

Agree 100%. Just sick of the conversation because people act like there's no chance he'd ever waive regardless of the way the situation is approached by management... |

it would be hilarious but Benning would be the laughing stock of the league and would have trouble finding employment in the future |

Firstly I think most people do view Benning as the laughing stock already
Secondly a lot of teams will be using the expansion draft to move unwanted players |
