if they were gone earlier perhaps we'd still have him.

I don't believe this had anything to do with WD, he was home sick.

I have a buddy who used to always take leafs in hockey pools in the later rounds and everyone laughed at him ...he would say I know they are awful but someone has to score for them ... - Redmile247
granlund played really well, certainly not superstar. Hate all you want, we won that trade by a country mile. |

Same.
It sucks as a fan, but nothing personal.
It's similar to when fans get bent out of shape about a player using their NMC that they earned. - dbot
I feel he'll be back. Maybe next year, maybe a bit later. I think once he probably gets more settled into marriage, maybe he gets a kid into his marriage then he'll come around on his earning potential over here.
Its not like this is as dire as a guy leaving when the team is on the upswing. This team is basically at rock bottom and will be for a year or two at least.
If he joins back in a couple years when things are going up. He'll be 24 or whatever, more experiened, and even if he's only playing 18 a night it'll probably be a better situation for him if the team is winning and his wife and family are in a more comfortable place. |

Only 2 guys on the Flames scored more then Granlund last yr, and they are a playoff team not 29th in the league! - Kaynine

It contrast to Tryamkin, I am glad he didnt force an outclause into his contract but it certainly isnt unprecedented to have some of these guys go back to Europe for a year instead of the AHL.
I do think JB thinks he is ready for the AHL though. Personally I think if Nylander could do it, I think Dahlen can too. Not much difference in size and about 15 pounds from draft weight - WhiteLie
Look how many times Sobotka and Radulov have left. Hudler did it. There's more but I know those ones off the top of my head.
Heck, Good Canadian Boy Giordano left Calgary to go over to the KHL to get paid, get ice time and then came back damn near a Norris winner in short order. |

No we do!
I have a cpl buddies who are Flames fans and they wish they still had him. They, same as the Flames, though he could only play center, they were wrong. He would probably have looked good with SM and JG |

IMO Sven is a much bigger loss ...granlund has a great release and that's it ...Sven is the much better and bigger loss |

I highly doubt I'm the only one who has gotten that from you, you tend to be all over the place with ideas
Caps and Rangers. Toronto has been impressive so far but I don't think they could close a series vs. Washington. Habs NYR I got into in the last blog. Basically Rangers are underachieving and the series is neck and neck. They're easily the superior team. - NorthNuck
Yeah I posted it was more a toss up series with last goal wins close. Talent and coaching evens out. Edge now to Rangers going home.
Let's hope Caps don't choke again and turn it on. That Laff D is thin enough for a Nucks team loaded with Megna and Chaput to punch through. |

Meh I still don't see where he would fit in ...3rd or 4th line with Maybe 10 goals ... |

For sure, those guys all did it as established NHLers. But I think with young drafted kids it happens a lot too. The last I can remember was Mika Zibenejad, who played 9 games with OTT and was going to be demoted but they loaned him back to his Euro club instead |

Right. It's not trolling. A pic is evidence of hockey talent. - Nuck4U
Well you can watch his highlights and see that he's not that quick in a very slow league. The only plays he's making in them is because he was given so much room. He's the Dubios of this draft.
Or you can just look at the picture, picture your future self hating JB for that pick, and see if it feels right. |

I think Sven has the higher ceiling but lower floor of the two. I really liked watching Granlund play this year, good instincts, smart and adaptable player with consistent effort. Sven has had some great games and some where you forget he dressed.
For me, right now between them its a toss up as to who I'd rather have for a game mostly because you dont know if youre getting the gamebreaker Sven or invisible one |

I see most posts are still on why Tryamkin decided to leave, I'm telling everyone here, it wasn't Willie, Doug, Jim, Hank or Danny's hate of Russians, not enough money, only a two year contract for such a talented superstar defenceman...
I'm not sure why this train of thought is continuing, read the damn reports, Goldy was making it with his wife, it's right there in black and white, if you read between the lines. |
