He'll be back. He's never gonna be a big time producer, but I'm with Vag on this one. Guy just wants some time to get things straight with his family. He'll come back and be stronger than he was when he left. - BINGO!
That's what I think too.
I think he'll end up putting up decent production, just not eye-popping numbers. |

Friction in the locker room, family reasons, dislike of Lidster, entitlement issues and home sickness were all causes...oh and of course, Goblin's continual advances on his new bride - CanuckDon
Yesss, one convert, if we keep this up it will be the lead story on 1040 Monday morning. |

Blame the Mumps. - dbot
Didnt we already blame the team doctor for that? I think we now know that Goldy had the mumps after him because he made out with his wife after she passed it on. The pieces to the puzzle are falling into place... |

I've never seen the offensive production potential in him that other's do.
i think he's a good Dman with a huge wing span. |

He has some tools, if given the opportunities later in his career he'll produce some IMO. |

I can't wait until other guys leave in a few years and it's because they're scarred from their time with WD years ago.
I've seen the twins blamed, WD blamed, everyone blamed but the guy who's decision it was.

what a big loss losing tree!
This is an example of why WD and lidster needed to be fired long ago, so we dont lose assets because of them.
However with him missing his family I dont see he didnt fly them in to visit. He has the $ to do so. He also could have them stay for extended periods, even permanently. - SMBDragon
Yes they didn't help the rebuild and development. Snub start and sparingly used with no PP time kind of added to Tree's frustration when lesser players were used ahead of him. But he played through it.
That article on family mentioned grandparents. So kind of hard for them to come. He had his newlywed wife. Not enough for her I guess. She was a distraction where getting married didn't give Tree time to come train here in off-season. It complicated things for him. But it can change in future.
Anyway I think family issues just sound better. Yes it plays a role. Unless they are going for kids now. But money and opportunity (ice time, role and Olympics) plus playing at home tipped the scales for now. Let's see what happens in the future. Believe he can be lured back with money and that Nucks have a top 4 role on a turnaround team.
Old guard being gone would help change the atmosphere in the lockeroom too. That Tree can be a part of the new young team. As a foreign new guy he might have been ostracized by those vets by Don's take on inside info. Don said he was hated and now thinks good riddance of the wussy. I shake my head at that. If that's true then the Sedins, Edler, Sutter and maybe Tanev and LE need to go. For true change and turnaround. |

You never know... The skillset is there for an eventual offensive outbreak IMO. Biggest thing he's lacking is confidence. |

I'm just doing the math here:
1) Tryamkin contracts mumps Feb 24
2) Canucks acquire Goldobin Feb 28
3) Goldobin spends time with Russians to get acquainted with Vancouver
4) Goldobin misses game March 9 with "illness" (mumps is an illness)
I am betting somewhere between steps 3 and 4 there was a night alone with Mrs Tryamkin... |

I think if the sharks found a way to win last night the oilers would have been done ...now I see a scenario where the sharks pull out a win and the oil cone back strong in game 7
Tonight is a must win for the caps ...they have all the pressure ..if they go down 3-2 the media will be all over them with the C word ...the leafs are playing with house money so there is zero pressure on them ...I think whoever wins tonight will take the series |

Same sh!t as far as I'm concerned. If he ever flips the switch & realizes he's capable of imposing his will on any & everyone, he'll spontaneously sprout a Sutteresque sack & start dominating. |

I'm really curious as to how you come up with these speculative remarks.
Bold #1 Both him and JB both stated in the media that family was the issue, so where is there a spin?
Bold#2 Unless you are going to contradict Carol, JB and other reports, he was offered substantial money for 2 years. He will be making less in the KHL according to the blog.
Bold#3 You are throwing out names with no insight, or intimate knowledge of what happened and who were the individuals involved. Don's source in the canucks room is pretty solid (I know who it is), but not once was it reported that the Sedins hated him or any of those guys, for all we know maybe Stecher and Beiga, Sbisa hated him because he sounded like an entitled spoiled child and the Sedins could have been trying to help him...
So I'm curious, how do you come to these conclusions? |
