He was fired because we have no depth in the organization he wasted countless draft picks
- GERBE!!!75PTS
How an you blame TM for this? his draft picks are Just starting to reach the AHL, We very may look back and say hey this guy knew how to draft payers when all is said and done. You can't blame TM for Rochester right now, that was DR team still.
all I know this there must have been something really wrong behind the line for this to go down the way it did, 21/2 years is not enough time to give a GM a chance, fair or not.
he made some pretty big promises and set himself on a short time line. That probably had more to do with his firing.
When you tell people you were 1 win a month away from the playoffs and then tell everyone your addition of kulikov is enough to solve the left side and challenge for spot you open yourself up to that.
He either genuinely believed it was good enough, which is bad. Or he didnt but set those expectations to buy time and keep his owner happy, which is bad because cant imagine any owner would stay real happy after that. - Sabresfan-365
1. Show me ONE "promise" TM made
2. He wasn't lying when he said they were one win per month away from being in the playoffs. I'm sorry you don't get the point he was trying to make but that's on you .... not him.
3. The Kulikov trade was a swap of D-men that wasn't some cornerstone of the rebuild. Plus .... if the guy doesn't get hurt what Murray had hoped for when he aquired him might have panned out perfectly. We'll never know though right ?
4. He didn't believe the team as it stood today was good enough and I don't know how you missed that since he said it all the time. He never set unrealistic expectations....... at least he never came across to me like he did.

It's the fall back argument from someone that has no logical position in the debate. He's one of about 3-4 people on this board that are guilty of it.
Like, Reinhart isn't a bust. But stop defending him as the first forward taken by saying he needs to switch positions and be our 3rd center. That's not helping your point - sbroads24
He does need to move to center but the problem is, you are wasting him as a 3rd line guy IMO. One of our centers needs to be traded for help elsewhere but I really don't want to trade Reinhart but unfortunately he is the only one you can.
The best thing Murray ever did was get us Jack Eichel. He had a bevy of picks and prospects that he turned into a few high priced above average players. Our cap/contract situation is pretty brutal compared to where we are in the standings. The Amerks are in awful shape. We have little to no depth on defense and very few high potential players in the system.
Tim Murray busted his nut early and hoped for the best. It didn't work out. He did very little to help the team once his assets were depleted. He tried and failed. Good riddance.
Thank you for getting us Jack Eichel though.. - MCGUIZZY
This. Some argue Murray "deserves" another year but we don't deserve anymore years of this crap. I'm a Sabres fan not a Gm or GMTM fan.

you should have seen me in 2014 when he wasted three draft picks in the second round
Do me a favor and look how many second round picks Tim Murray has wasted..

Seidenberg gets $1.25 million for next season. Raise from $1 million this past year.

1. Ask 89, but he set lofty expectations when he came here.
2. I didn't say he was lying, just that it was a dumb thing to say
3. If it wasnt some cornerstone why did they think the guy could come in play 25 mins a night and get this team to the playoffs?
4. Not as it stands today, going into this season.
And bolded, thats on you. The guy expected a team that finished bottom 10 to suddenly make the playoffs based on the premise that they were 1 win a month away and the difference was dimitry freaking kulikov. Never mind the fact all the dead weight accumulated on the blueline.

So when the new guy comes in and doesn't hit a home run you're going to be calling for his head in 2 years? Setting us back to square one all over again?
Doesn't make sense to me. I wish all the best for the new guy, but he's already set up for failure if he doesn't get this team in the playoffs next season. If you don't have patience for another year of murray then you can't possibly have patience for a new guy

If I hired a guy to turn around a failing company ............ the last thing I would do is get rid of him halfway through the process ..........
Please remember what the state of this team was when he came in and stop trying to make it out like we were good .... and he turned it to sheit ok ? - fastek
What if your company regressed and then you asked him why and how to fix the regression and he had very little answers.
What if also he rubbed some of your customers the wrong way that they didnt really want to deal with your company anymore, much like the Rumors with Murray were.

But yet it's not his fault - GERBE!!!75PTS
Whatever ............ NHL prospects and draft picks are currency in this league and many of them NEVER pan out at all.
The other point you and others miss entirely is what sort of pressure was Pegula putting on TM to get this ship turned around ASAP ? How do you or anyone else know that Murray's approach wasn't being directed by an owner who had lost his patience ?
