The 2017 Sedins can be easily replaced. The 2011 Sedins can't be. - CanuckDon
Easily? Come on. 51 and 44 points are bad for the twins but still good for a canuck roster player. For the next couple of seasons that will be some canuck player's career best.
Just looking at twin stats and I can't believe henrik finished with a -27, his only minus season other than his first which he had a -2. Daniel the same with a -16 with a -3 in his rookie season.
That's crazy decline. Obviously all WD's fault. |

Apparently he's made of glass, this draft is going to be wacky. Only guaranteed top 3 is Nico, but I honestly don't know if a team would draft him 1oa - Crazybagoham
I would be ecstatic with Nico at one. I think he will be a first line stud in a couple of years. 200 foot player. |

Sam Gagner and his 50 points are UFA, 2 of him and we can easily move on |

As cool as it is to see sooo many Habs fan at every away game, and the crowd at the bell centre is absolutely crazy every night, I don't think I would ever want to play there as a player. Their media and fan base are soooo critical of their players all the time. Price having to address the media today on whether or not he wants to be traded and whether or not he wants to say in MTL is absolutely crazy. Galchenyuk giving an interview today ducking questions about his deployment on the fourth line all playoffs and whether or not he wants to stay in MTL. We think we have tough/bad media in VAN, doesn't really compare to TOR/MTL |

Bo and Boeser can't fill that hole? Then we worry about building back 3-4 line scoring. - LordHumungous
Bo yes but I have no idea about Boeser. He looked real good in his 9 games, 4 goal showing. But I want to see a full NHL season from him before I start proclaiming him a replacement for Daniel.
Lines 2, 3, and 4 won't be a problem to rebuild. I have faith JB can do that. But I don't see any true super stars (of the twins calibre) in the canucks prospect today or even after this draft.
So I'll wait until I see JB make a deal for a twin replacement (through trade or signing) or until the 2018, 2019, and 2020 drafts to make that judgement.

Bo struggled far more once opposing teams started to focus more on him.
There's a huge difference between being asked to provide secondary scoring and primary scoring.

Yes, but the Sedin's had the majority of the offensive zone starts and all of the PP time. Not to mention other teams top lines are starting to get deployed against Horvat. With the same opportunities, Horvat, Bae and Boeser will out produce the Sedin's. Clearly we still suck but I am not worried about being worse when the Sedin's retire. |

At least Montreal and Toronto have knowledgeable fans. But yes, those questions are pretty offside by the media. |

No kidding.
Both of those cities are larger, with a far more deep rooted hockey background. |

The twins aren't superstars anymore and they aren't first line players. The healing starts when they are gone |

I partially agree...Bo was being targeted well before his decline. I think fatigue was a huge factor. He continued to generate chances at the end of the year but he stopped converting. |

This is just it. replacing 50 pt players is easy. 75-80 pt players not so much. |

Such BS. Bo had 2 minutes per game, the Sedins had 3 minutes and 2:40 respectively. |

simply just hand their easy minutes and PP time to Horvat's line. Problem solved. I am not sure how to replace Horvat's line |

The Leafs are essentially one player away from winning the cup since they played 5 OT games agains the president's trophy winners and Chicago won 3 cups after sucking for a decade. |

well played - LordHumungous
I get what you are saying. But I'm not going to blame outside factors for the canucks mediocrity. Considering the ineptitude the canucks have displayed throughout their history that would have to be one hell of a conspiracy.
The fault squarely lands on the entire organization, top down. It should not take 47+ years to achieve your goals. If it does then you got to rethink the strategy your employing to achieve them. |

Although I tend to agree, the organization essentially resets when ownership is replaced...so how long has Aqulini owned the team? 11 years. |

I agree for the most part. That team was deep enough with little to no holes in the lineup should have been a way to get it done.
And I also agree that some of the thinking needs to change. 47 years and no cup. Maybe it's time to think a bit radically? |

actually? there D is brutal. The Leafs future appears bright but they need a few pieces still. They could use a Tanev, an Edler and a Magna |

Well it is a huge difference. Also, getting 2nd unit PP time means you go against 2nd unit PK. |

Thats the issue. Even if Horvat can take the Sedin's role, someone has to be able to fill in for the Sedins after their contract is up, and to share the same sentiment as a few others, the organization lacks the depth for anyone being ready potentially as early as mid-next season (if by some miracle they chose to be traded) to play consistent top 6 |

starting in the offensive zone with an extra skater and playing 80 seconds is far superior to starting in the defensive zone with an extra skater and playing for 40 seconds. The 2nd unit often doesn't even have a chance to get set up in the zone. |
