That's where we're at too, hope it picks up soon. Also started Fargo tonight, which Bob Odenkirk is in. Digging it. - Fenrir
Loved the film, haven't checked out the show yet. |

I will probably get thoroughly flamed for this, but I think pursuing Joe Thornton for the right price next year would be an interesting option. He is only a year removed from a point a game season and he is a big intimidating body.

His schtick is so tiresome & not funny. - RustyKuntz
Not aiming to be humorous. Dion Phaneuf has provided depth to the Sens blue line that last year on the left side that featured the likes of Patrick Weircioch and Jared Cowen. Dion Phaneuf isn't the player he was in Calgary. However, he's in a good spot now behind Methot and Karlsson. He and Ceci can play against easier competition, while the other two can do the heavy lifting. |

Not anymore, thanks for quoting it.
Edit: Would you rather have however many years Stepan has left or a year or two of Joe Thornton? (assuming Stepan is dealt) He's probably faster than Stepan.
I'm not advocating this necessarily, just thinking of different scenarios that could play out. |

Joe Thornton will be 38 in a few months and just underwent surgery to repair his ACL and MCL today. I can pretty well guarantee he will not be faster than Stepan next season. Furthermore, based on what we have seen from others who have dealt with knee injuries/surgeries you can expect him to have a very sub-par season by his standards.
Offering him a contract large enough to attract him hoping he will rebound the following season, at 39 years old would not be a good strategy.
What has Jan recently reminded us of here? Step might make a little too much money for 50 points a season, but that's still a dependable 50 POINTS PER SEASON!! Not something to be lightly tossed aside. |
