A couple years ago ottawa and NJ did with brown and mcleod.. then last year red wings and yotes with chychrun and that Cholowoski kid from chilliwack chiefs - mauryballstein
Brown/MacLeod were picked 11,12
Chychrun/Chowolski, 16,20
seems pretty irrelevant to me. I'm certainly not convinced. |

The mixed msgs from management are again a concern. If those previous don posts are accurate. Im not a JB fan at all but after the deadline im starting to see TL as the problem not just FA. - mauryballstein
Trevor is a nice guy but we all know where nice guys finish. As for Benning I am neutral at this point, but I believe any GM should get 5 years to see their vision. Benning has 2 years remaining to get this ship in order. |

AHL coach with no NHL coaching experience. The 2nd one in as many years. - Marwood
yeah 15 years of playing in the league and 7 as a coach is useless - I doubt he understands the game. Interesting fact, I read that every coach that was ever hired into the NHL had NHL coaching experience beforehand - EXCEPT FOR GREEN!! weird eh? |

For me personally I don't really care about the coaching at this point, as long as the GM starts to rotate a few of the ELC guys in and out of roster, (sending them back and forth). Let's see what these kids have and make them hungry for that nhl paycheck.
I would have no issues if they rotated 2 or 3 players in and out of nhl/ahl roster, provided they get played decent minutes and put in position to succeed ie; 2nd or 3rd line. - Reubenkincade
Edmonton model, all high draft picks inserted into a crapshoot of a lineup to fail.... over and over x10
Leafs model no draft picks are inserted until they finally get 1ov in a good draft year, 3 years of high picks inserted at once.

What are you not convinced about? I just dont understand like what you were looking at or what your question/concern was exactly.
Ottawa wanted brown and paid to move up to get him. NJ took the extra pick and ran with it.
Wings dumped a cap hit and paid big time to do so as chychrun looks really good and cho what ever his name is looks like the biggest bust in the 1st round at this point. |

He has made some poor picks and trades but you cant judge him if he is given this direction from ownership and thats why I am neutral as the deadline showed he can make nice moves when the owner (frank)s off. |

I think you are exactly right. I don't think he is being brought in to take this team into the playoffs, yet that will be the exact words that will spew from Benning and Linden. - Codes1087
They hired a guy who had trouble creating offence for a team that lacked offence. Now put him as the coach of a team that has a declining offence. Recipe for success. |

Trevor is a puppet. That all is he. The guy has NO president experience. He was a PR move when things were rough. |

Normally we agree. On "rotating" ELC players, I don't. Players that aren't ready, aren't ready. Maybe if a Vet gets injuried and a spot opens up they can have a call up. Other then that they stay down in the minors learning together as a team and growing together. |

Yes but he wasnt a playoff coach, couldnt tinker to win games. Needed better systems!!!!!! - WhiteLie
I am not allowed to discuss systems.
Actually, I'm not supposed to be talking about coaching either. |

who did Willie develop? Hint, he had an AHL team composed of vets, no high end prospects. It's tough to develop the Subban's and Grenier's of the world. - CanuckDon

My point is simple that trading down is a huge gamble - and your example proves the point even further, as you can see how it has turned out for Detroit.
And I think we'd be nuts to do it, especially with an even higher pick. |

Of Course they would have too earn the right to be called up . As I don't get to watch any Utica games I just want a chance to see where they are in development stage. I am being selfish I know.
It could make for a more enjoyable watching experience when you get to see a prospect or 2 in the line up, whether it be say Dahlen for 5 games or Boeser for 5 or Brisebois for 5 etc.
I am open to anything at this time as this team has been hard too watch for several seasons now. |

Horvat Baertschi Granlund Hutton Stecher Tryamkin? - NorthNuck
Yes, yes, yes, no, no, no
So I'd say he developed the forwards.
The defensemen were either here for one season only or regressed.... in one case, regressed back to the khl |

You can argue Stecher wasn't here long enough and Hutton had a so-so season but Tree 100% got better over the time he was here |

So you're advocating vociferously to rotate prospects up and down... just so that you can see them play?
Sounds like a good developmental strategy to me, I'm onboard. |
