Also, havent the kings denied two teams permission to speak with Futa? seems like a long shot - Sabresfan-365

We got our wish of seeing the wild out because we own their 2nd rounder. We own Washington's 3rd rounder, so it would benefit us a bit to see them lose this round, but screw Pitt, I'd rather see them lose. |

Once u get to the 3rd round the guys are all rated roughly the same
A few spots in draft position won't really make a difference unless there's one particular guy we have our eyes on
But even then,
We'd get a guy who's very similarly rated |

After the 2nd round (you could even argue the first round), draft order rarely seems to matter. It's all about how well you scout at that point. If you do your homework, you're bound to find someone that will pay dividends for your team at that spot. So Go Caps. |

Maybe we will be allowed to talk to some of those guys,
and maybe some we won't
Without knowing for sure,
I see nothing wrong with including all the names we'd potentially like to meet with |

You think Hague will be gone by then? Interesting. I want one of either Hague, Foote or Brannstrom but would prefer Hague. We need some toughness. Sick of watching thugs run over Freddie. - Matthews_Auston
I think Hague has been climbing in the ranks all year, so I'm not sure that he won't be taken by the Leaf's pick. There sure still be someone of decent caliber left, though. And, who knows, if the Leaf's want someone bad enough maybe they'll move up to grab him. Movement in the middle part of the 1st round is a lot more likely than in the top half. |

Agreed. Washington losing in the 2nd round will only move us up 2-5 spots on that 3rd round pick. So the value is minimal. |

True, that it is more about scouting at the point. But you can't selected someone who is already off the board, so picking the earliest you can is always the most beneficial. |

Totally off subject and bound to be ridiculed by many but here goes.... Am I the only one who feels that the NHL as played today is about as boring as watching paint dry when compared to the way the NHL was played in the 70's and 80's? - rapperray
Oh its (frank)ing boring now. 3/4th of that is the constant hooking, holding and interference that never gets called. |

They have pretty much named every single executive at this point that could qualify. Dont think anyone knows at this point what direction they will go |

If we keep the pick...
I want us to take whatever defenseman we like the best
We need to start building up talent at that position
And there's 3 guys slated to go in the 4-12 range
Let's get one of them
If we win the lotto,
Then we are in a spot where we are likely taking a forward again
And that's fine
I'm not saying take defense no matter what
But at pick 6, there's a handful of guy that are all rated roughly the same - jdfitz77
I think trade or BPA |

If we don't win the lottery, which I'm expecting, I say you trade it.
I know Bingo floats around here and he thinks/wants a Hanifin for Duchene trade but he also thought that something like:
Reinhart, Gorges, Ennis, 2017 1st for Hanifin, 2017 2nd, 2018 2nd
Would get it done. Carolina needs short term cap hits, that's Ennis and Gorges. We purge 2 awful contracts without having to buy out, possibly even retain on Gorges. We then throw our 1st and former 2nd overall for a young NHL-ready defenseman (who's also buddy buddy with our future captain (not Zemgus) Jack the coach and GM killer).
We overpay but get two 2nd's for much needed depth over the next 2 drafts.
But other than that, we're looking at flipping Reinhart and that 1st for an established and NHL ready d-man. |

I hold Heiskanen and Liljegren a lot higher due to their AHL eligibility. I think Liljegren and Makar in particular would be ideal PP QB types which i think the Sabres lack. - MCGUIZZY
I like Makar, but, I wouldn't say we lack a OO QB. Risto is pretty good, team was #1....... |

I would like to see more goals from our d-men overall. Adding a guy like Makar would give us our version of a Ryan Ellis type which I dont think we have |

Yet many people will say how insignificant late picks are. So much of our current prospect pool is made up of late round picks - MCGUIZZY
Or 2nd and 3rd rounders... or late 1sts. Who needs em? |
