reinhart was clear cut number 2 pick for this team
draisaitl was clear cut number 3 pick in that draft
if the sabres passed on reinhart, at the time gmtm would have received the sonny weaver jr treatment for drafting vonte over bo - homiedclown
i dont think it would have been nearly as bad. most of us (if not all) had a lot of faith in TM early on. He was the guy who picked Karlsson, so if he thought Draisaitl was the best guy i woulda been okay with it.
In general those three forwards were all very close in terms of projections |

There is a difference. Dwelling on the past is continuously bringing the same stuff up over and over again. Hence the word Dwelling. Looking up info to show that this whole argument about the draft is pointless is not dwelling on the past, it's trying to show there is no point in arguing about it. - adambuffalo
I know, I was kidding.
The debate wasn't about Draisaitl v Reinhart initially. It was whether Reinhart should be better or not.

did a little digging into his numbers too. Very good, seems to push the play by himself however it makes me think he wont be there at 6. especially with teams needing scoring help in front of us.. |

Again this is very basic work so far but Gabe Vilardi could wind up being a steal for someone.
The points havent piled up but his expected goals for and primary assists are very good |

I don't want us to reach for a D man. If we trade back, cool.
But IMO a guy like Tippett might be a guy who can score goals right away. He has great hands around the net and seems like a natural goal scorer.

i would prefer to trade back as well, but tippett would be a good get. I think the pick will wind up being traded or liljegren though |

Which would be fine too, but I have a feeling teams realize the mono curse shouldn't keep allowing guys stock to plummet, like Saad and others |

yea thats what would make me think hes still going top 10. just the more i read on Brannstrom the more upside it seems he has. D game needs a lot of work, so does liljegrens.
But in a scenario where you trade down you could get a d-man with similar or even higher upside and another pretty good prospect. |

his shooting percentage worries me. still, i figure him to project into an ehlers type player which i doubt anyone will be disappointed with. |

2nd round pick.
Or maybe swap goalies? Not a huge Elliott fan but he's an NHL caliber goalie |

I missed Gerbe being a Richard and picking up Murray. I was going for Bernier. Probably the guy with the worst goalie in front of him left. He's already played once in the playoffs due to poor play. - Wetbandit1
Hopefully Rask picks up his play this round |

they didnt tear it all the way down like we did, they didnt have to.
Really tells you how bad the management has been here over the last 7 or 8 years - Sabresfan-365
There is no question the Leafs have done a lot right, however, they got very fortunate in picking the right year to properly tank and winning the lottery.
Buffalo won neither lottery as the worst team and the Leafs won the one that mattered most to them. |

Does that mean you are going all in on Ullmark and a one year FA goalie for next season?
Petersen sure isn't NHL ready right away. |

And, it is a ridiculous discussion, though. Of course he could be better. And, for starters get the guy off the freaking wing and put him at center where he belongs, that's the reason why we drafted him. Having Sam hang out on the right side waiting to tip pucks is a waste of his ability. He needs to be the guy with the puck, being creative, and making his wingers better players. This is like drafting a QB and making him play tight end, it just makes no sense. I hope the new GM and coach have a brain in their heads. |

what
ng39
The three teams that did have made the playoffs the last two years. Florida won the Atlantic division
Maybe the NHL and Bettman hate buffalo. Maybe Pegula just wants our money and worries more about Uber than hiring a GM. I can't tell anymore |
