Perhaps mcnabb was involved in some unseemly or questionable conduct? That's the only reason I can see trading him for some nobodies. Maybe he started his own fishbowl or had some trump golden shower parties or something, inspired by the old guard?
Who knows but that was a brutal trade
Also, I'm gonna leave this here because typing on an iPhone the most out frustrating thing I can thin can think on this site. Crazy spell check errors types all of them be patient for every.
I Love ror but does anyone think our trading for him was questionable? Given that he want some / demands to play center, why do we have him when we have ha when I a jack and sam? SIGN ROr to that ynmoveable contract Sam now has to play wing? I don't get it. We tank for a center and then trade for one and thus bump out the rookie?
Gmtm was too in love with landing the big whale (ror, Kane) that are good pieces, but are they good pieces for this TEAM??? |

I wanted Andersen - chilliard77
Funny so did I argued with my son about it, and ended up getting him! But Lehner is the real deal! He just has to stay healthy! his numbers are there and the dmen in front of him weren't elite by any stretch of means, but Andersen got injured too,and maybe you go with the devil you know (Lehner )lol ,but a strong back up and someone who can fight for the crease wouldn't hurt! ...anyways I'm out guys (this time for sure )lol have a good one..cheers! |

Have Sam center the 3rd line. It's a 3 center league right now |

Lehner's a decent goalie but his numbers are better than where I'd rate him. An average starter. I watched Andersen a ton in Anaheim and I think he's the real deal |

I like the O'Reilly trade
What I'd like to see us do with Sam, is put him back at Center!
That makes us so deep down the middle
And gets Sam back into a spot where he can be more of a playmaker
We might not have a ton of top end talent on the wings, but...
Kane and Okposo (hopefully healthy) are both really good players imo
So that's 2/6
For the other 4 wingers...
Nylander, Bailey, Pu, Baptiste & Fasching all look like they could be top6 quality players... at some point
Now, if that means we need to play some combo of Ennis, Foligno & Girgensons with say O'Reilly on a line that goes up against other teams scoring line...
I'm ok with that
It's not ideal,
but we can't change half the roster in one offseason like some suggest
And with the expansion draft...
we don't have to only target defensemen
There's teams with issues at forward as well
And we also are in a spot in the draft where we could get a pretty decent forward...
IF
We get the defense straightened out first

I love the idea of Sam setting up some of our young wingers
Having a 3rd line that can score is essential to our overall success
Something like Bailey-Reinhart-Baptiste could/should net us something in the neighborhood of 60+ goals
Maybe not next season,
But I can see Bailey & Baptiste both being 20+ scorers
Especially with Sam fishing them the puck |

If the new GM is Lombardi...
a name that pops into my head is Bernier
Obviously very successful in LA,
and even at times on a pretty bad Leafs team
Looked good again with the Ducks
Is he a franchise goalie?
Probably not
But what if we signed him to compete with Lehner and do a 1a/1b tandem?
Maybe one will even set themselves apart |

I'd like that too. Anyway to better the team should be looked at.
I'd still be totally fine going into next season with Lehner and Ullmark |

Murray took 2 defensemen in Mcnabb and Pysyk that we spend years developing and traded them just as they were going to break into the NHL. Not saying these guys are stars but still - MCGUIZZY
This is accurate and the most damning of TM's tenure, IMHO
He "Undervalued" a position, (Defenseman) which has been esculating at an foreseen rate over the past 5 years. He was behind the curve and got abused on the McNabb trade which is by far his worst of all trades, but seldom debated or discussed.
The Pysyk trade is complex but in hindsight was a clear flag of desperation on TM's part.
The risk reward was not on TM's Side but he did correctly identify, what turned into a Glaring Weakness on the back end. The entire staff/Coaching were woeful at their expectations of what Gorges/Franson/Bogosian/ were capable of. For Screaming Moses on a signpost sake!, We were picking up random FA guys like Falk/Nelson which shouldn't have wowed us, but of course they did, the previous mentioned are that bad. Hence the dismissal of both Coaching/Management was not only preferable but Absolutely Necessary.

Your ideal team would be the same players that failed last year in a different configuration?
We need some roster turnover and whoever gets the GM job isn't going to just run out GMTMs guys and expect to win. - Losman
Hopefully they will be playing a system more conducive to their talents, Development is the key, players didn't get to play in Detroit until they did at least 3-4 years in the minors. Batiste was better in Roch this year than last year, same with Bailey. If they start the year in Buffalo and struggle, back they go to work on developing. I believe we have some talented players in the system, they just have to nuture it. |

Never understood that trade. Hope Fasching works out, but I'm losing hope fast. - sskkoo1
I can see how you could lose hope after 11? games in the NHL. I guess we've seen all we need to see. |

That's why I said, "I hope he works out," but the fact remains he really can't score at the AHL level so I think it's fair to be a little pessimistic. Fasching slipped to the 4th round for a reason, and Murray greatly overpaid for the guy who we'll most likely need to put 4-5 years of development in for 4th line duties. |

Our AHL team sucked swamp ass just like our NHL team. New leaders and vision could make a world of difference going forward.
I hope so anyways . It's all I got . |

I'll agree with that, and I do hope the kid get going. I'm just saying that I have not seen very much out of him yet where others seem to think he's on the path to being a solid 3rd or 2nd line NHL player. |

Could have been the coaching holding them back too. Too much follow "MY" plan or sit. Instead of go out there and play like what got you to the NHL. Gonna be interesting to see the players in camp. Hope the new coach gets us going . |
