By Saturday we will be able to speculate better. But my guess is that JB may have his back against a wall more so with Tree leaving. JB may have to show his picks are having an impact. He only has BB now.
So he will want to bring in his 1st to play on fourth line for 2017 start. More of the show and tell draft pick that JV squandered by having a set back this season. So if this is the case, he would prefer Nolan, Vilardi and Glass, in that order, who could play phsycallly enough to center the 4th line.
I do think though Nico and Mittlestadt are the better offensive and creative players with upside and hockey IQ. But Nico might not be ready physically for a while and Mittlestatd will be unavailable in college for maybe years. - Nuck4U
That's not overly true. His other picks are still developing as most other teams picks are.
I would agree that Nico and Mittelstadt are better offensive. I think that's where Patrick and Vilardi would be better because they are players that make other players around them better.
With Boeser, Goldobin, and possibly Dahlen, Van for the first time in a long time have players that have the ability to finish. Hence why JB is looking for a play making center.
Baertschi, Horvat, Granlund have all shown more finish then set up.
This team needs another Henrik Sedin and Todd Bertuzzi. |

So the leafs make the playoffs for the first time in five years and Chris Johnston at sportsnet writes an article about the leafs now being a Stanley cup competitive team.
He even says the window is now open and the leafs must take advantage.
Johnston has always been a poop writer and a leaf propagandist but this is unprecedented even for Toronto media. I hope TO sinks into the lake and takes every media hack with them. - bloatedmosquito
Most of "The media" had the panthers as a lock to make the playoffs ...sometimes things happen ...leafs are going to be good for a while ...but I wouldn't be surprised if next year they just miss the playoffs

Nico Hischier!!! - Scooby_Doo
At this point any high draft pick that doesn't suck will help this team. |

Absolutely I've had enough of this group, they make knee jerk reactions to fan and media outbursts as evidence from CDC, HB, CA and 1040.
I hope this group wallows in the depths of the bottom feeders until they are all fired, and the team is sold. What an absolute disappointing announcement,
I'm going to throw my allegiances to another team...Go Seattle Flames Go - Makita

They had a lot of loser points this season. Plus Florida missing 3/4 of their team for half the year. The Lightning had a down year.
The only way Toronto is going to improve next season is if they get a better defence.
Edit: That's funny. I say how the leafs need to get better defence to improve and EK puts up that the leafs are interested in Marc Vlasic. |

Austin Matthews will be good for a while. The success of the team as a whole will depend on how they manage contracts going forward.
The leafs have had great rosters in the past and achieved very little. We will see. |

I am very disappointed with this announcement, another knee jerk reaction by Canucks management, not a fan of green or his lacklustre development of crap prospects in the Canucks system. Stupid bloody choice - Makita

I don't think they interviewed anyone. This was predetermined before the firing. |

...and for the pom pom crowd, Green has less coaching experience than Desjardin. Way less.
I now look forward to the inevitable Babcock comparison. |

I expect the panthers and bolts to find a way back in...that leaves 1-2 spots for the 3 Canadian teams ... |

They do have a lot of cap space moving forward so that could help to add pieces |

Babcock was a coach for 12 years in other leagues before he got a HC job in the NHL. 1 college
1 CIS
2 WHL teams
1 AHL team.
TG will be back coaching in the CHL in 3 years. |
