I would say two more after this one but that's just me. Without some really really intelligent people in your scouting department, not the Canucks, you need quantity to get quality. - LeftCoaster
I certainly hope they can select 2 future core pieces with top 5 picks this year and next. If they can't, the entire scouting department should be fired.
edit. everyone should be fired. |

Nope... we don't need to acquire anymore more 20 players who are getting paid. Unless its a super cheap acquirement ... - Pres.cup

After the Virtanen selection I guess I'm not as optimistic as you. Plus you need development time built in. |

Green is turning him into a serviceable NHL player, however disappointing that is, its better than nothing. |

I'd be ecstatic if Virtanen turned into Raffi. At this point I'd say that's optimistic. |

nope. Green more or less said he needs to improve in order to even make the NHL as a grinder.
It's impossible to be a power forward if you refuse to hit the opposition. |

Yes. That's exactly what I said.

As long as we get a top 8 pick next year I think we will be in good shape. It's an incredibly deep draft. One more year of sucking and then we can chase the playoffs - CanuckDon
I think Donna's day dreaming again.

At this point, I'd be happy if he turned into Matt Cooke, without the headshots of course. |

Win at all costs. One of the issues I have had with some canuck players. IMO, that's what cost them the cup in 2010/2011.
After the Rome hit some canuck players got scared and withdrew. hell, even the coach told the players to turn the other cheek. - bloatedmosquito
they were in shock he got suspended and the reffing. |

No there's no such thing as "luck", just do your homework and make the best pick with the information you have. If you don't have enough, or the right, information then you don't have the right people gathering the info.
As to your comment on strength up the middle, it's the only way to win in my opinion. Teams built with strong wingers but poor centers rarely rarely win. - LeftCoaster
There's a bit of luck in your draft placement. Injuries are sometimes a case of bad luck. Sometimes you can do all the research in the world but for whatever reason the player doesn't work out.
Tree is a perfect example. |

Not that anyone has really clarified, but I am assuming the long version of the slogan is 3 years from being considered a team on the rise, before another 3 years before being a contender? Or is this just to be a steady playoff team? |

Well...I'd say when you decided to pick a foreign player you have to consider that may happen. So, really, is that bad luck? Not in my opinion. There's been similar behavior with several other Russian players, its not something they shouldn't have seen.
I have a feeling he'll come back when he matures in about three years. |

Six years from having a sniff a playoff position IMO. Unless you pick some really talented players for three years in a row. I don't believe Matthews in a generational player but he's damn good, so is Marner and Nylander, add that to a decent group that was already there, which is what we'll have in three years, and who knows. |
