I just dont see any logical reason to keeping Duchene. I love him as a player, and would hate to see him move. But his time is over in Colorado. I dont see any point keeping onto him and struggling to build a blue line from scratch.

Duchene just seems like he needs a fresh start. I dont really buy the winger issue anymore. He had Landeskog, Rantanen, Compher, Jost for 30 some games after the deadline and still he seemed defeated.

Love the guy, he was one of the all time great Avs, but he needs to move on and so do the Avs. Its MacKinnon/Jost/Compher down the middle from no one and keeping duchene just to play Wing doesnt make sense to me. He needs to be a C.

yeah he has moved on mentally, I agree.

He needs to win, play some playoff hockey. I want to see that go be able to get some success in this league. He wont get that with the Avs before his contract runs out so why keep onto him

1. Yes, Avs need to win this draft.
2. Meh, dont really care about Butcher, he isnt a make our break prospect for this team. Good year for him but hes going to be an AHL guy
3. Hanifin man...get to know the guy bc hes coming our way
4. Even if Duchene isnt traded, still draft Patrick at 1, take BPA wherever they are
5. Beauch is gone, he has to be if this team has any shot of being respectable.
6. Varly is being protected, and I agree with that
7. Not a lot of big buzz in the undrafted FA market, a nice to have happen but Avs just need to draft and trade smart this offseason to fill some AHL depth issues

Avalanche offseason 2017.....

1) depending on order, draft like this Nolan Patrick, Cody Glass, Miro Heiskanen, nico hischier.
2) Vegas - protect 7fwd-3d-varly ( duchene, Mackinnon, Landy, Sven, nieto, rocco, OPEN SPOT FOR TRADE PURPOSE.... ej, Z, barrie.... varly)
3) trade for draft picks for protecting a player from another team with that open fwd spot. 2nd or 3rd or 4th. I'm thinking the duck might do this.
4) beau either waves his NMC or buy out. If he waves his NMC see if he is willing to be moved in fseaon if not by tdl.
5a) 9 or 92 moved with either will butcher rights, Lindholm, bigras or seimens for a young defensemen ( pulock ~ islander, sergachev ~ Montreal, hanifin ~ Canes, Theodore ~ ducks) a pick 1st or second and a prospect. If you can move a colbourne as a throw in you do it. Eg... 9 + Lindholm + colbourne for sergachev + mon 1st 2017+ Galchenyuk something like that. This happen at draft or shortly before.
5b)if the opportunity to move a 6 or 4 arrives and you get a top 6 forward do it. I see 4 being more of a player for player, with 6 being more of a prospect and picks type of deal.
6) continue to draft well. Draft down to aquire more picks if nessary.
7) don't over pay for a plug player in FA. No bad contracts. I can see a couple 2 year deals for holes in roster but know who is taking one spots already. Eg... Natal for 4C, rocco in bottom 6 probably 4th line
8) have a goal for 10 more wins next year. 68 points. But be competitive. And get a top 5 pick next year. This year will suck but see growth. Mackinnon needs to take a big step at being the guy. Don't have lofty expectations of jost and JT or 1st rd pick (if he makes team) to be a huge difference maker. They probably won't be this year. If they get 30 to 45 point that's a win. Expect more of a normal rookie class.
