They have a Vatanen type in Zaitsev. They need a Tanev type to help keep pucks out of the net. Putting pucks in them is not an issue, it's keeping them out of their own.

Heard Green on interview with 1040. A couple things stood out. First, he wants to fix PP but needs to know what his full roster is to do that.

That means the usual suspects Sedins, Sutter, LE and Edler who are pretty much guaranteed on the roster are not core to his PP. If so, he would be talking more about strategy with those players. So he wants to fix PP by changing the players.

Another point of change is Green's approach to team game. He will look to playing an attacking, pressure team game with speed. Make it hard for other teams to play against them. It's not sit back and counter. It's not trap.

All the above sounds like roles for young guys are in the making and open if he's seems them ready and able. Not only for Bo, Sven, Granlund and Stecher. But prospects like BB, Goldy, Dhalen, OJ and JV. Even RFA's like Boucher and Rodin may factor in too as specialists.

Ture, but if Zaitsev is a 6/10 for offense and Vatanen is a 7/10 that is not much of an upgrade. But if their best player is roughly a 6/10 on defense and Tanev is a 9/10 on defense that is a bigger whole filled. Zaitsev also out socre Vatanen last season, just had a crappy +/-. Someone like Tanev would mean less defensive play needed out of Zaitsev, all of a sudden there is not a huge dif between him and Vatanen. Someone who is 80% offensive minded, you only need 1 of them for PP1. PP2 usually uses a Reilly or Gardiner type. Correct me if I am wrong, but Vatanen gets a fair amount of shelter minutes. MOstly plays offensive zone draws and PP.
