That wouldn't be getting out from underneath. It would be a white flag... and his post was an insult.
If you're going to surrender to get out of a deal I would hope it would be Seabs.
... and I don't see Toews being Dustin Brown. He will be probably do anything this off season to come back stronger than ever. He may need to learn to sit longer when injured though... Maybe another season like this one and I may change my mind. - tredbrta
Earlier this year I would have said the same thing you just said to me. But after two playoffs where Toews didn't produce on offense and this series with the Preds he wasn't effective nullifying Johanssen and his line...I don't know.
I hope like pretty much every other Hawk fan that he's able to right the ship. Also, like you I just can't believe he's done at 28 but this next season will tells us what we need to know either way.
I didn't really find the post insulting, more a hypothetical. |

Good points. He was really tentative.

Panarin, Kruger and Nick Schmaltz for Taylor Hall, Adam Henrique and a draft pick.
Schmaltz is another guy who exasperates me.
This won't ever happen though.

Stan is awful, let's solid goalies go for nothing because he can't plan ahead. Remember that Raanta guy? We got a bag of pucks for him too. |

Comments I've seen that are pure garbage:
1. We are stuck with Crawford.
- Stuck with a 2 time SC winner, who was not the issue in the playoffs and works his @ss off and is constantly underrated. CC > Darling. Darling is going to command money. Trying to find a trade partner for CC and his contract, you are going to have to bring back salary as well. So if you trade CC to sign Darling, are you even saving money? My guess would be no. And if you do save money, it is not enough to make up for the decrease in net.
2. Upset we only got a 3rd RD pick for Darling.
- You do realize that we were not going to resign Darling, right? It's like when you put your trash out on the curb and someone comes by to pay you to take it. I don't know if it was sarcasm or not, but if that is truly how you feel, nothing can be done in the offseason that will make you happy.
There is way too much gloom and doom, end of the world, Hawks bottom of the league trash being thrown around. It's been a week, take a breath and relax. I know we're all knowledgable on this board, but maybe just believe for a bit that the front office of the Hawks actually knows more than us and has a plan. I know thats crazy to think, but maybe try. |

Yea, you're right, we should have thrown money at him as well. Spend more money on a backup, prevent Darling from ever coming up.
Darling is a backup goalie on the Hawks. Stan actually got something for nothing, considering Darling was not going to sign. |

Crawford is a product of having an elite team in front of him in 13 and 15.. plain and simple. If q doesn't pull him in the Nashville series that's another first round exit.. this team isn't old and slow now.... 6 million a year for an average goalie..... what a joke... now you deal a darling who would have probably have signed for 2 million less than Crawford....I'm gonna gonna get s*** on for saying this but you still have talent on this roster... the bowmans should know better... don't tie up cap with a goalie... looks at the wings in their hey day. Crawford in net? Never see a cup again.... remember that

Amazing such divergent opinions on this board.
Until the ecpansion draft, Carolina could sign Darling and protect him. Or he isn't signed, but gets drafted. Other scenario: is not drafted, or drafted but traded to Chicago.
Yes, in some scenarios Craword is traded.
We are putting the cart before the horse when doom and gloom is pronounced. Darling gone now does not mean either Crawfod or Darling returns here.
It is probably safe to say a couple of core players get moved. Let us just hope Stan reshapes the roster wisely. I have identified the sort of players Bowman should trade for. Just one or two physical players who play top minutes. I am loathe to even think what players Stan goes after. It is an exercise in futility. We just have to wait and see about all of this.
Stan may have mismanaged the cap and trades much worse to some than what others would say on this board.
But i do not think Stan is dumb enough to screw up his big off season of transactions. Some bloggers are just geting carried away. |

Do you think he does not see the errors of his ways.

One thing I have heard fairly consistently over the years is that the players themselves are loyal to Quenneville and his staff
Are the players & coach putting themselves before the team is probably a question to be answered. Seabrooks contract is probably a very good example. Signing the twin contracts a year before they had to be signed, again another questionable move.
Sometimes having these 'relationships' in organisations is an advantage, but at the same time a disadvantage.
But with 3 Cups sitting on the shelf, it's hard to argue. Success is a drug, the only problem is getting a fix. |

Category; Sweet Carolina (not)
Someone could have Carolina on their mind
Darling. An expansion team. An NHL team
Bye and bye = you are thinking Darling and or Crawford
Actually could be Cam Ward and or Eddie Lack
Neither whom i want to model a Blackhawk uniform |

Bowman May re shape some of the core, you may see a 4or 6 player hockey trade where a good amount of salary is exchanged both ways . I still say the 1st thing taken care of will be a Bonified 1st line Left wing for Toews.
These guys have a major case of the as going right now feeling that their franchise has been embarrassed by the easy out in the 1st round. Hopefully these guys are watching how playoff hockey goes. The years they won the cup they had grinders along with their elite. This year they had NADDA !
Called it along time ago when everyone was buying Crawford plane tix out of town.that Darlings rights would be dealt.
I'm saying, 1of the 3D man is gettin dealt, and/or 1or 2of the forwards and rookies in return SB will get A younger D and a high cost wing, some of that may hedge on if DeBrincat could make the jump next year.still saying someone like Taylor Hall or Duchene type will be a Hawk come Sept. - wonthecup10
Agreed.....and a Panarin and Hjalmarsson type core will be moved.....although personally I'd rather move a Keith/Seabrook and Anisimov/Kruger instead. Yes, the bottom six needs intense snarl, but its the core that needs the shakeup. Blackhawk loyalty under the Rocky regime has been great but it's time to make changes now that this core has failed badly 2 years in a row. A top young dman and the 1LW is sorely needed. Unfortunately, Bowman has handcuffed himself because of his ridiculous no movement contracts. HIS hot seat now, and, again, he's going to have to sweeten the pot on any deals by adding some of our good prospects to get it done....a la TT added to move Bickell....John's added to move Sharp....etc.
This could get ugly..... but he created his own mess !!

Yep, and I see the Swedish D man is signing in Toronto instead of Chicago.
One thing Bowman is good at is throwing up a wall around his personal emotions when it comes to getting attached personally to these players, he comes out with the " we thanked them for their service and wish them well"! Hopefully he has that already Qued up when he makes a significant hockey trade involving a couple of big pieces soon. Need some big walls built when it comes to these NMC 's in the future! |

No secret who guys like myself , Rick , and others are lobbying for. Let's put it this way , hopefully Kovalchuk re signs in Jersey. Privately last year when the Trade went down , Taylor Hall felt like he got kicked in the nuts even though he put the consummate pro face on in public. If this has any legs to it, How'd ya like to play with Toews every nite Taylor in Chicago? Understanding money goes back that way also. Part of re shaping the core! |

I really have to take issue with the slam on Crawford. If you listen to interviews that Kane gave after the cup in 13 he said Crow deserved the playoff MVP not him. In 15 while it's true Darling had to step in for a game, who finished the cup run and played great? And if you at all payed attention to the first half of this season (pre appendicitis) you saw Crow be absolutely lights out and get a number of pure goalie wins, keeping the Hawks in the mix until the rest of the team was able to play. In his exit interview he said he thought he wasn't at the level he wanted to be after the appendectomy. I am tired of the Crow isn't good goalie narrative. It is tired and inaccurate. And they got something- 3rd red pick - for nothing - a UFA player that they can't likel afford to resign. They also did that player a favor by getting him somewhere that really wants him and where he will be able to be the #1. I think it's a good move. |
