It really (frank)ing stings but we all know if McDavid got drafted here, we'd have had the same results the past 2 yeas with that moron of a coach.

It's about time Edmonton figured it out (again!). It only took 25 years and 76 1st round picks.

We couldn't beat the Canes because we were playing with Paestch, Janik, Jillson and Rory mother(frank)ing Fitzpatrick on D. With a healthy d we would've run roughshod over the Oilers.

And it was literally Rory's fault we lost game 7.

By all means a fluke season. They were an 8th seed and Roloson was playing out of his mind.

Ryan Wilson is doing his best to convince me that Jason Botterill is the guy for us. Starting to wonder if he's right...

The Sens wore them out, and Carolina played a much more physical game that series. Injuries were definitely a factor in it, but what people forget is that Carolina was a much more physical team, which contributed to them. Edmonton played even more physical that year. That final was downright nasty. I am not sure the Sabres would have had enough left in the tank.

Jason Botterill is doing great roster management work in Pittsburgh. Tim Murray was a very good, possibly great, scout in Anaheim and Ottawa. The thing to remember is that all these AGM's are doing their work while not being ultimately responsible for the end product. They're usually tasked with only doing the things they are strong at. A first time GM is taking on responsibilities that they are not particularly strong in. Some do just fine. Others, like Murray, failed at it, at least the first time around. Botterill may be the best guy for the job, but his work in Pittsburgh only gets him in the door. The question will be, can he do other things well besides only what he's good at in Pittsburgh?

There are those that say he did most of the heavy lifting and that rutherford is basically just the front guy.

If Artemi Panarin is truly made available as suggested per the Hawks blogger, how much would it take to get him here for Eichel's wing?

If that's the case, why would he come here? It would have to mean Rutherford is on his way out soon.

Good. I always knew Crosby was a dirty crybaby, but after the chit he pulled late this year, and how the fan base defended his filthy play, I hope they start losing big time.

unfortunately though, once Crosby and Malkin are gone, the fan base will stop showing up to the games like they always do, and Pittsburgh's owner will cry to Bettman that they need the next generational talent who will be coming along or they'll move. We'll see another rigid lottery in their favor and this chit will start all over again.

I never understood why we throw stones at other markets like this. We had just as bad of attendance in the years leading up to the 2004-2005 lockout, and hell, even after the lockout, until the fan base figured out this team was actually pretty good, it was dirt cheap to get into the arena for 2005-2006 through Christmas time.

Now, with business models put in place during successful periods, markets like Buffalo and Pittsburgh have strong season ticket bases that will prop them up even during lean years. Also, Crosby is going to play, and play in Pittsburgh well into his upper 30s, maybe even 40s, so this mythical day when the fans in Pittsburgh all abandon the team isn't coming for a while.
