interesting. im not as high on Dubas honestly. I dont see him as a GM candidate yet - MCGUIZZY
Agree 100%. I think he's 3 or 4 yrs away from being a GM. |

think that would be the package deal imo. Guerin gives you the name, respectability and boterill gives you forward thinking
nothing would beat the entertainment factor of hiring dubas/keefe from toronto though. - Sabresfan-365
I could get behind that. 2 heads are better than one type thing. Could make the transition more seamless |

I think Chayka set a new tone for the young analytics type. But I think Dubas would be a stretch. Pretty sure he also said he wasn't ready like a year ago? |

Botterill over Futa just cause you wonder if you hire the latter will he bring his scouting guys from LA...who were not very good. - Sabresfan-365
good, Botterill can then throw 5.5 mil per at Justin Schultz in July |

They mustve changed their thinking at some point along this search because early indications were that lombardi and maciver were probably at the front of the line. |

Just curious -why so much hate on Alzner?
Would he not be the second best d-man on this team if signed? |

second hot take, i dont think he would be. considering how good that washington defence is, it is very concerning that Alzners underlying numbers are so poor, particularly the defensive ones.
Even with his horrible 2nd half McCabe still looks better. The most telling bit for me was i think the nbc? or CSN broadcast where the colour commentator flat out said the caps were better off with alzner out and schmidt in because of his foot speed.
Thats a big red flag.
In short, this screams kulikov 2.0 sans back injury |

my guess is alzner is going to be overpaid, not great for offense or uptempo and his body will break down due to his style, like rivet and regehr

If we want to be a serious playoff team, that either needs to be a 2nd pair, or Risto needs a legit top pairing partner. - sbroads24
Or McCabe needs to take another step forward,
but I get what ya mean
Especially with a new GM coming in...
it might be pretty hard for him to make all the multiple moves that many in here are suggesting
Supposedly we are still on track to sign Antipin
From there, we need a RH defenseman for the 2nd pair
That would make the defense look something like this:
McCabe-Ristolainen
Antipin-(trade)
Gorges/Guhle-Bogosian
Falk
Once we fill that spot on pair 2,
then we can look to try & dump Bogosian,
or upgrade spots on the left side
I know u don't like Alzner,
But he could bump everyone down
Or maybe a 2nd trade can be made?
A new GM might put finding another forward above getting a 3rd new defenseman though... especially if Okposo looks to miss time
Making 1 trade is reasonable
But even with the expansion draft,
making multiple trades could be tougher than it seems |

Interesting. Based on the stats he generally has a healthy Plus minus. And hes been very reliable healthwise. Seems like he would be a good addition to me if the price is right |

Agreed, but I also think a huge problem of ours was that our "top pair" was heavily out played on a nightly basis.
IMO we absolutely need a 1 or 2 sooner than later.
I like McCabe, but not as a 1/2 guy |
