Yes to take gorges off our hands - Slapjackzack
Okay. But, honestly, I would see us just buying Gorges out before Pegula would let an asset like a 2nd or 3rd go towards a payment for another team to take him off our hands. Gorges is in the last year of his contract, so I'm not sure what the buyout price would be, but I'm sure T. Peg has the pocket change. |

Murray probably called him back and told him to take that mother (frank)er... - jochfr
Maybe. Though a lot of people thought that because Murray was fired that it automatically took us out of the running for Antipin and that still seems like it's going to happen.
I can't imagine that McPhee or even the Vegas owner were too happy about him saying that. You obviously expect that things like this go down all the time, they're just kept on the DL typically. |

Yeah, I get that...
but what would we have to give Vegas (or whoever) to take him?
Is a 2nd enough?
Would they want a prospect too?
Or maybe more picks?
I just think the cost will be too high to move Bogosian
Hope I'm wrong though - jdfitz77
How about a 2nd and a poop ton of bubble wrap? |

The "favor" that Murray mentioned was in regard to leaving a particular player unprotected and them not taking that player. I still think he was referring to Ullmark. He's basically the only guy they CAN'T protect but would probably like to. - HonkFortheGoose
Bingo.
The favor was for Murray...not sure it holds up for next GM however but there are plenty other goalie options to take before ullmark. They were going to take Ennis or Bogo for a pick |

Which is why if he doesn't get taken by Vegas or someone doesn't call looking to trade for him, you just ride out the final year and then cut him loose. Would be stupid to buy him out with 1 year remaining at this point. |

I don't see the point of buying out Gorges, he is on an expiring deal and we don't really have an issue with the cap this year. I don't see an advantage on spreading his remaining year over two years. - Mentalorgasm5
If you don't,
Then it's Gorges on the 3rd pair & Guhle in rochester
Plus there's supposedly tension between Eichel & Gorges |

Yes.
Gorges and a buyout makes no sense imo. Get a creative GM and send Moulson, a 2nd, and 2 million this year to Arizona for a 3rd.
I feel the Knights will take Ennis due to the forwards that will be exposed. Ennis is a low risk high reward option since he is only has two years remaining on his contract.
Than you're just stuck with Bogosian, but we will have plenty of space, and can deal wit that if it foes become an issue. |

If we can get rid of Bogo...
at a reasonable cost...
then I'm cool with it
I just don't know if that's possible |

I'm ok with Gorges hanging out in the press box and Guhle on the 3rd pair. That is an option as well. |

How's that affect the locker room though?
I doubt Gorges would be ok with that
I'd rather just have him gone
If someone wants to trade for him, great!
But the buyout is cheap & easy if not |

Yeah, I agree that it's seems dumb to buyout the last year of a players contract, but what if there just isn't room for him? Let's say we can pick up a guy like Brodin due to Minny's issues with the expansion draft, and what if we do land Antipin.
Risto, Antipin, Brodin, Bogo, McCabe, Falk, Guhle (if the Sabres want him here and not the AHL)
I guess you can just leave Gorges in the press box, but wouldn't you at least save some money by buyout? |

This^^^
The buyout is cheap
Something like 1.3 mil for 2 years |

Not buying out a guy and paying him for 2 years instead of just 1. They save 1.3 million if they do buy him out, but at the end of the day, getting the 3.9M off the books at the end of this year instead of having to carry 1.3 into the following season is a way better option.
That 1.3 million is going to be much more important to us at that stage of the game.
Hell, if Gorges is that much of an issue, send his ass to Rochester for the year. That means he still falls off the books after this year and he's not causing issues in the Buffalo locker room. |

I guess Rochester could be an option
But to my knowledge, Gorges has been a good guy
Just that there's tension between him & Eichel
And it's more fair to a Vet to buy him out & give him a chance to play elsewhere, then bury him bc "Eichel is being a brat"
(Is Eichel being a brat? Idk... but it's not a Rep I want him to get)

More tension between the Vets & the kids
I'd rather trade Gorges...
but a buyout is an easy way for both sides to walk away |

Or you take the two of them into a room together and tell them to stop acting like children and to put their differences aside for the good of the team.
Both of those guys HATE losing. There's always common ground.
Our depth at D currently isn't good, so unless they make some really major changes, they can't afford to not have Gorges around as at least a depth option at some point. |
