Meh....building is a process that takes time. It was only six years ago the Canucks were in the seventh game of a Cup final. It's not like we've been waiting forever to see a fourth round of the playoffs or to be good. - LeftCoaster

I still can't believe the Canucks have retired any numbers except Bure's.....utterly ridiculous and embarrassing for the franchise - LeftCoaster
Even Bure's, frankly. None of them had won anything.
The Ring of Mediocrity is equally as embarrassing. |

At least Bure was one of the greatest goal scorers ever and made the HHOF.....but ya....(frank) |

Yes you're right, he came in the Dan Quinn/Garth Butcher deal for Momesso, Ronning, Courtnall and Dirk deal. - LeftCoaster
Technically it was Janney for Brown, Hedican and Lafayette.
(frank)ing Nedved. Then he becomes a Canadian and plays for Canada at the worlds. |

Who cares about winning. It's how they represented the Canucks.
Bure and Linden are no brainers. Smyl and Naslund were mistakes.
Sedins will be no brainers. Luongo would be a mistake. |

standards would certainly be different had they actually won something IMO. Old news but I don't think anyone should be in the rafters except Bure. For his on-ice performance! |

I don't get why people slag Nedved, kid was good, better than Daniel and people say he's a HHOF'er. |

Good luck guys. Unfortunately I have a feeling some sad sack American team like Arizona and New Jersey will get the top 2 picks.
Good core players are available though. Mittelstadt, Vilardi, Glass... you will get a piece of the puzzle. - iknowbest
Not sure this draft matters. We need a center and there are centers all very good. This year is more for getting a very good player. There are no franchise players this year just good players. But thanks |

Bure won the Calder as a Canuck and he's one of seven players in NHL history to ever score 60 goals in a season more than once, he also did that as a Canuck. Only 20 players in NHL history have scored 60 goals in a season, he was one of the best ever! |

Looks like he wears 18 for the Swiss National team, he can have that as Virtanen won't be needing it for awhile ........................
Sergio...we can thank Nedved, who had a good career, for Sergio and the crew from St. Louis. - LeftCoaster
Benning and Green are talking about JV coming back next year and he will be playing a Hansen role not a top 6 role. |
|
|

Let him wear 16. - Marwood

He needs to earn it, not have it handed to him...part of the problem with him in the first place. |

They should retire Henrik's but not Daniel's lol....Henrik won the Hart Trophy. Everyone who's ever won it, and is eligible, is in the HHOF. (I think)
Edit: three players since 1923/24 are eligible but haven't been elected to the HHOF yet, and probably never will. |

Then the Sedins should have been in Utica too last year.
Who on the Canucks earned anything last year? |

Yup.
If he needs another year in Utica so be it. I'm getting pissed off with management placing players on next years roster before training camp. This years 1st, Virtanen, Dahlen & juolevi. |

I love how Glenn Healy the other day writes a big piece claiming the rest of Canada is envious of the Leafs. As I sit there watching the Oilers with their way deeper team they built playing in the 2nd round up two games and already forgotten about the earth shattering 2 wins the Leafs managed against a typical poor performance by the Caps. Then there's Quebec's other team, the Sens ahead in the 2nd round.... but it's all Leafs Envy in their arrogant little brains.
I don't care what anyone says,,, I already know we are going to take our time and draft a deeper team and not cash in as soon as we have an big scoring line. Maybe we don't land a Mathews player(maybe we do).... but we all know a team is not going to win a championship on offence alone anymore. That's where Leafs fans and their west coast promoters are "out of touch". You can only get so far in a two year rebuild. Mathews or no Mathews. Exciting hockey or not. Toronto will start losing depth soon, will be up against the cap and the entire worthy prospect pool has already graduated. They will be an exciting team who falls short year after year. - boonerbuck
lol wow. Healy has to get a grip.
nice to see you back bro |

He wasn't terrible, I guess because Jagr was taken three spots behind him he's deemed a bad pick, which he really wasn't. Only Jagr and Tkachuk, who 18 teams passed on, have better numbers behind him.
He actually got to 300 goals in less games than Daniel Sedin.
If Pat Quinn wouldn't have tried to low-ball him I suspect he'd have had a good career as a Canuck. |
