It's important every year you're rebuilding to draft from a good position. They all count as building blocks. - LeftCoaster
You were.quick on that correction.
How are your Capitals doing? Sure not looking like the best team in the league.
Far too many chokers on that team. |

Their plan, nor mine, was never to destroy their season, I don't know where you're getting that from? They're not talented enough to compete for a playoff spot so they start tanking at the TDL, which is what you'll see again next year. - LeftCoaster
The tanking philosophy is that. So maybe you are a drafitst instead. Get quality drafts and build.
How they do is why they play the games. Depth and cohesion meets talent and development level (youth factor) that create outcomes. What that may be is not fixed. But we know they don't have an established team. So they will be in tough sledding to do well.
If they slide off from TDL by trading vets as their bubble play wanes then that's fine too. I don't care about where they finish but more on their development of the youth. It's not all linear with youth development either. Difficult seasons can allow youth to learn and improve more then vets. |

The three teams that needed the most help all won the lottery. Seems rigged to me. |

RIP Washington Capitals
Too many UFA's and RFA's
window closed in my opinion. - classic321
Man at least Nucks managed a SCF 3 times.
Here's a team that's rebuilt in the modern CAP era. Has drafted a generational talent in OV. Does that mean they need to be centers?!? Anyway, drafted well. Then made trades and signed all the "right" players. But still it's looking like another failed effort. To even get to the finals.
Goes to show you how winning is so rare and hard to develop. The team concept for that is a complicated formula beyond talent of assembled players and depth. It takes a certain character, chemistry, coaching and hard earned luck. |

Good luck guys. Unfortunately I have a feeling some sad sack American team like Dallas and New Jersey will get the top 2 picks.
Good core players are available though. Mittelstadt, Vilardi, Glass... you will get a piece of the puzzle. - iknowbest
Hate to say I told you so!
But poop. Seems like you guys got screwed again. Like I said, one of Mittelsstadt, Vilardi or Glass isn't a bad consolation prize. Just have to make sure you get the right one. |

Quality draft picks are your building blocks. History shows they are found in all sorts of draft positions. With that in mind, winning a lotto position, if luck has it, to give you a franchise player would be the ticket. Just need a ticket for the lotto is all. |

Talking about Flyers in a Nucks thread to rub in some sort of gain is a choking offense.
Don't shoot the messenger on Flyers Fate. Is that flag of yours getting tighter?
That fated choke will suck the life out the Flyers fandom |

It's okay it will work out for the better. The Nucks will get the right pick.
The lotto winning teams will be forced to take the shiny toys. But in this draft they were made in China with lead paint. Watch those GM's chew on them to turn their clubs around. Then, the inevitable fail of expectations will poisen their teams.
Just like the Nedved and Yak drafts the better players will be lower down. The Nucks will prove out, years from now, to get the better player. |

I was advocating for that since the end of the season, they should have asked him. |
